How do I fake-a-break for my laptop warranty?

This is the big downside to laptops, they are fragile, you have to baby them. Doing this they will last many years. My Toshiba going on 2 yrs has been trouble free and I didn't get any extended warranty.

What about opening it up, and randomly taking a soldering iron to it somewhere...damage like that could be caused by any number of things, overheating, power surge, etc....
