How do agencies handle cancellations?

On Sunday night, I found myself it Toronto with some time to kill. Called Cupid's (who I've used before) at about 5:30pm, and found that Eden (who I've seen before) was available for a 7pm outcall appointment. I booked her.

At 6:20pm, I found at that I was needed right away for an unavoidable situation (the reason is not relevant here), so I immediately called Cupid's to cancel the appointment.

That's when the fun started. The phone girl (Jillian?) was pretty pissed, and understandably so. I was apologetic, but said that there was no way I could be at my hotel at 7pm. I offered to pay a cancellation fee; the idea was rejected.

She said I would be added to their blacklist, and not to call them again. I said that I understood why they had to that, but I hoped that she would not. I told her again that I felt bad about cancelling, and that it wasn't fair to them. She then called me a "douchebag", and hung up the phone.

Questions for you guys; did I act reasonably? Did I deserve to be called a douchbag? Or maybe Jillian was having a bad evening?

In the scenario you describe from your perspective, you acted very reasonably. Agencies should know better. Especially because frequently the shoe's on the other foot, where Phone Guy(TM) has to apologize for the girl having something come up at the last moment. I try to be a gentleman in these circumstances and have been well rewarded.

Not sure but does Cupids pay cancellation fees when their ladies have to cancel or don't show up or are so late that you have to cancel?

We also only know half the story. The agency might have another take on it. But if it's as you described - How many times do their girls cancel or get overbooked or whatever. I know I've had a few cancellations that were caused by the girl or an agency. I either accepted a sub or moved on without getting upset at the agency. Things happen on both ends. Especially if you're coming from out of town!

Ok, you did the honourable and proper thing by calling immediately! End of discussion.

Being rude to you is not professional; it's not even mature.
Telling you that you're now blacklisted for cancelling, well that lacks professionalism too.
Being called a douchebag, well that's not professional either.

Yes, there will be 3 sides to the story in reality. However, I recall a thread that Jillian created about a hobbyist where she called him a rapist and it was later deleted. Also, the SP, who Jillian said was so upset about the situation worked the very next day. My point, I wouldn't take Jillian too seriously.

I've heard nothing but good things about Jillian, so this is a shocker. I think I'll wait around and see if she makes an appearance.

You acted in good faith. Shit happens. I don't even think you owed a cancellation fee and you are certainly not a douchebag. With 40 minutes to go they haven't incurred any expenses yet. Only pay a cancellation fee if the woman shows up and you decide to send her away--at that point someone's had to pay for a driver, so you should cover that.

On occasion I have received compensation for inconvenience from them.

I agree with this particular fujiism. The OP acted in good faith. No expense incurred on the part of the agency. And on top of that, a cancellation fee was offered. If it happened as described in the original post, Jillian is the douchebag. Cupids lost a good customer.

Wow, she called you a douchebag and treated you like that? Where is this little girl, who the fuck does she think she is? Millian or whatever your name is, if your on these boards, please, I'd like to see you EVER try to talk to a man like me like that. Ever.

Blacklisted? Is this proof that agencies keep numbers?
They have to keep some numbers, or how else would they create a bad client list? If they didn't then any asshole that a girl asked not to return could come back anyways.

I have to say though, you deserved to get how you were treated because you apologized profusely when you shouldn't have apologized to begin with, you begged them and even offered to pay a cancellation fee? Who the hell does that? She seen you as a punk and you were treated like one. Simple as that.

I apologized because I could not honour an appointment that I had made; I think that's courteous and mature. I wouldn't have even made the post if I hadn't been called a "douchbag"; I think that was over the line. But, if what you say is true, and Jillian thinks I'm now a 'punk' for having some sort of respect for her business, then she really has lost a customer. Tell me, should I have NOT called, and just left Eden to knock at an empty hotel room? Now, *that* would have been punk-like behaviour.

I think he acted the way we should all act. If you cancel, you need to try and make good. The same way the agency should act when the shoe is on the other foot.

Well I'm not saying you shouldn't have called at all. But that girl should have understood as soon as you said I need to attend something that can't be missed. If it is what you say it is, then that thing that came up last minute was beyond your control, thus why I feel you shouldn't have apologized. Honestly, I'm not going to sit here and make threats over the internet about what I would do to anyone who calls me a 'douchebag' straight in my face. Especially if it's a phone girl or escort company owner? That is an insult on top of an insult.

And plus, what would happen if it happened on the other end and millian had to call rob and cancel? Rob, unless that girl offers you a free session I would never call her again. Thanks for posting this thread, I will never call them (not that I ever have).
