Set the hot tub down to 97 and closed the lid three days ago.
Usually in summer we keep it 99, and depths of February 103F.

Hopped in it tonight and iit had actully gained a degree from last night.
It was sitting at 98.
Just floated and proverbially chilled until the mosquitioes started to come out as daytime heating winds died down as the sun set.

It's currently 17c in my basement
I can recall summers in the 1970s sleeping on air mattresses in the partially finished at that time basement of the family home during heat waves.

With the hum of the dehumidifier going non stop and the gurgle of water from its hose running to the floor drain.

Since the basement walls were uninsulated concrete block
And would otherwise run streams of condensed water vapour down to the bottom where little science experiments of fungus and mold.
Which would take off in less than a day if the hose kinked and the full tank float shut the dehumidifer off.

I'm sure the malls are busy right now with window shoppers. Nice and cool there for sure and some nice scenery.
Eaton Centre- all the hotties walking around in halter/tube tops and short shorts with butt cheeks hanging out!

Only people sitting outside at dundas sq were the ones sitting on the chairs under the big umbrellas.
No one sitting on the stone benches, you can fry an egg on them.

I have been enjoying the “ eye candy”. . Thanks ladies..
The summer is short, so we should enjoy the sights and the heat while we can.

I was too fucked up to clean the intake filter of my AC last year, it got rather dank during the summer. I live in a semi forest, the pollen clogs the intake if not cleaned. Something I usually do around Mother's Day. I had lunch at Bourbon Street at Vaughan Mills, with a coconut/taro slushy from the Energy Bar.

There was so much wigglin going on, I felt totally refreshed...I'm not hanging out with the Ginos yet.

I went to a restaurant on Sunday evening. When we got there they told us the AC was broken. We didn't feel like going anywhere else and it didn't feel too bad inside (it was dark) so we stayed. 10 min in my head was dripping with sweat and I was using the napkins to dry off. We ordered apps and by the time they came out my body was dripping sweat. After that we told the server to pack up our mains to go. By the time we got the food my shirt was soaked through and it was very visible.

Ok Monday I went for a quick walk doing the peak heat just to see how bad it was. After 5 min I knew I had to get home or I might have a heat stroke. I went for another walk late at night and it was still 30 and muggy. I generally prefer hot weather to cold weather but this is insane.

A cold beer or two really helps (I don't drink much), avoid the outdoors and just enjoy the A/C. The topper was a large chocolate dipped cone or a really thick milk shake. And then ...... Oh the pain of it all

My A/C doesn't seem to be able to handle being able to reduce the temperature below 70F.
In my building the temperature control in the hallways is under repair.
So may be that is preventing the temperature from going down further.

I have to say this heat wave is NOTHING compared to everyday temperatures in Japan or anywhere in SE Asia. I usually spend 6 months per year in that part of the world so this heat wave is a piece of cake. Don't know what all the fuss is about.
Honest question...Would you say that the regions you have been going to in Japan and SE Asia have gotten hotter over say the last decade or more...Just your first hand observational experience.

Honestly, I have only been travelling the way I do since I took early retirement ~4 years ago so I don't really have a reference point 10 years ago. All I can say is that I hate the feeling of constantly being sticky and needing something like Snake Brand Prickly Heat powder. Something I cannot believe is that even in the heat, people like grab drivers wear jackets. Humidity is always around 80%+ which makes a huge difference. Last couple of days, humidity in Toronto was only in the 60s. Also, Japan is hot for a couple of months and then it gets rather cold. Last time I was there was in April and I flew in from the Philippines with full T-shirt and shorts and froze my ass off.

I simply avoid visiting residences and offices of climate
scientists and climate activists to survive the heat.

They are all so committed to fighting climate change they wouldn't
want to damage Earth's climate by turning up air-conditioning during
my visit. I will be lectured on why waste heat as a byproduct of cooling
is destroying our climate future.

As a former basement dweller, I remember fondly the summer of 1974. I lived in a very pleasant basement on Fairview Avenue. Runnymede area. So comfortable. Didn't matter how hot and muggy it was outside. Walk down the couple of steps from the back garden into my man cave and it was peachy cool. Winter was ok. Landlord said that if it got cold, just turn on the oven and leave the door open. worked like a charm. My favorite hideaway at that time in my life. For some reason, Nixon resigning stands out as the news event that summer.

I have central air but my upstairs is boiling still. I live on the main floor or the basement and dont go outside if I can help it.

My incall is nice and cool but I had a strap on session yesterday and I was dripping sweat after 5 minutes. Sweat was just pouring off my face.

Ive been exhausted ever since that session. I think I just overheated and I haven't been right since.

I have central a/c, so I am okay, but how are people without a/c surviving this heat? I know most apartment buildings don't have central a/c, and if the tenants don't have a window a/c, they are going to be cooked. The homeless must be dying also from the heat, and the elderly. It's hot like an oven outside!
