Avoid low cost, inexperienced people for a job like this. They will probably mess it up. If there is an accident during the work and they don't carry WSIB coverage, then homeowner insurance is on the hook.

Best bet is to visit local professional paint supply places and ask around for who they recommend for this kind of work. Places like Sherwin Williams, Benjiman Moore and such - not Home Depots and the like.

Now that being said, you will come off as a potential bad customer as having your own paint already is a red flag. Professional painters select paints for best effect based on their experience. Often (I assume) lower cost paint takes more time to apply due to poor coverage or other characteristics. No good painter will want use someone else's paint.

Anyway, good luck with this - I'm sure you will be able to find the right person to get this work done to your satisfaction
If you are willing to be a little devious, first find out what your dad id willing to pay, then find someone you are comfortable with and get the actual price. If they are willing to work with you have them quote your Dad's desired price and agree to make up the difference "under the table'. I know it's dishonest, but everyone winds up happy...

You'll find that an established painting company will sometimes give a quote that is much higher than an independent painter. That's because painters are unionized... similar to drywallers.
Your best bet is to find an independent handyman or painter instead of finding a company.
Sorry I can't help further.
What you described is a pretty big job, and you mentioned some wallpaper removal, too.

So I need to get my dads house painted. I will gladly pay for it but he won’t let that happen. Not at full price. Is there somewhere that does painting for seniors or for a senior discount. (I can’t believe I even wrote that - yuk)

Or just a good place, professional that I can say is giving him a seniors discount. I’ll happily pay the full cost and we can just lie to my dad.

Before I get the questions, I love him but he is old and set in his ways. Physical issues prevent him from doing it and that is hard on his esteem. He is feeling old age and not liking it. I don’t want to wind him up emotionally over painting the house.

3 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, living 8 dinning rooms, 2 staircases and one entry way. Wall paper removal on stairs and slightly patch work on walls, nothing major. Big job I know so even the idea of asking for a place that works with a senior budget is making me feel awful. He may have a senior “budget” but I don’t.

Anyway thanks in advance.
Wallpaper removal is more work then you think. After it is removed the wall is damaged. The paper of the drywall comes off and or the glue. You will probably need to prime it and fix it. You may also need a Taper. To keep cost in line and if it is safe to do so you may want to remove the wallpaper yourself. A Taper won't give a quote unless he sees the wall after the wallpaper is removed and he isn't going to do it. I'm in this line of work and the only way you will save money is if you do part of it yourself and find a painter that is willing to come after work or find a handyman to paint. Any trade is looking to make 1200 a week cash min for the week. It's very busy right now and finding someone will be difficult.

This is what I’m going to have to do. Up to them if they want it under the table or not. I don’t care either way.

I’m not removing the paper. It is on curved stairs. I’m not falling and breaking my neck.

It is not me looking for this. It is Dad. I would call someone and pay full price. I think everyone here knows that of me. It is him and his thinking and he will just be stubborn and not get it done at all if he doesn’t hear a price he likes.

His problem is he has worked in the trades and done this for seniors way back in the day. Like too far back as far as I’m concerned and I have told him, that is not how things work anymore but he is insisting it happen this way or not at all.

I had 2 years free from property management because of COVID but that excuse is not going to work much longer and if I don’t get on it now, with wait times for contacts so long, it won’t get done in time before property management puts their foot down.
