Is there a good hotel downtown that doesnt require room key to use the elevator?
I will be in Toronto for 10 days, I would rather not go downstairs and wait for the girl every time I call the agencies
thanks

Several. Can you narrow the parameters down? Price-range, if you are travelling corporate or personal? And more specific location(financial district, entertainment district, yorkville etc).

Most hotels downtown do not need key access to elevators. My two favourites are the Hilton on Richmond and the Marriott at Eaton Centre.

the Chelsea is ok, but the decor is dated. It's a huge hotel with three restaurants and a very busy lobby, nobody gets noticed there, and no keycards for most floors. It's on Gerrard at Yonge. There is also a Marriott a few blocks north..I think it's a Courtyard. Probably more modern and there were no keycards there either last time I stayed there.
I don't think the OP cares about the hotel's decor and likely doesn't care if the carpet matches the drapes.

I visited an SP at the Hyatt Regency and didn't encounter any room key elevators. Then again, it was quite a while ago and during the day. So they might lock down the elevators at night.

Maybe of more concern to the OP, depending on hour of day, is which hotels do you need a key to actually get in the hotel overnight. Also, make sure you aren't staying on a club floor, as those you probably do need a key for the elevator.
