There may well be some sort of convention in town that is taking up space. Also there may be some March break stuff up. As a result high volume to be had.

PDAC is a big mining conference and it's on next week. Further from Convention Centre the better. And prices will likely be jacked up
btw, with the miners in town, the SPs will be busier than usual and there will be lineups at the strip clubs - not to mention lines at bars that are never busy like the Library Bar in the Royal York

My favourite time of year.
Try Hotwire/Priceline and booking last minute if Airbnb doesn't work out for you. I know, seems like a horrible option but actually a decent thing to do because of cancellations/no shows that tend to occur.
