I get around.
Does mary-jane make you more sociable? I was terrified at the prospect of going to the party and having to socialize. I have been told it brings shy people out of their shell
Who are you getting advice from?
Yes it can make you more sociable if you're going to jam with friends in a garage band, or play a few hours of Dungeons & Dragons or have a nice meal.
If the social event is one where you are the director of a Christmas play acted out by children for their parents and you've taken sublingual tincture of cannabis for the first time ever- HELL NO.
Pot is sociable when you're smoking up and passing a joint around with other people; if you're the only one that's high in a group you're probably going to feel like an outsider.

And it's alcohol that gives false courage to shy people and pulls them out of their shell. If you've never witnessed this before, try going to one of the SP social events. I know I need at least a couple of shots before approaching any of the ladies.

ps Mary Jane...or Mary Juanita?

but my whole point is that marijuana very rarely will actually "impair" you. there's a difference between having a drug in your system and having the drug actually impair your ability to drive.
Here's some more stuff in regards to driving. The numbers are references.

Marijuana significantly impairs judgment, motor coordination, and reaction time, and studies have found a direct relationship between blood THC concentration and impaired driving ability.6–8

Marijuana is the illicit drug most frequently found in the blood of drivers who have been involved in accidents, including fatal ones9 Two large European studies found that drivers with THC in their blood were roughly twice as likely to be culpable for a fatal accident than drivers who had not used drugs or alcohol.10,11 However, the role played by marijuana in accidents is often unclear, because it can remain detectable in body fluids for days or even weeks after intoxication and because users frequently combine it with alcohol. Accident-involved drivers with THC in their blood, particularly higher levels, are three to seven times more likely to be responsible for the accident than drivers who had not used drugs or alcohol. The risk associated with marijuana in combination with alcohol appears to be greater than that for either drug by itself.7

Several meta-analyses of multiple studies found that the risk of being involved in an accident significantly increased after marijuana use12—in a few cases, the risk doubled or more than doubled.13–15 However, a large case-control study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found no significant increased crash risk attributable to cannabis after controlling for drivers’ age, gender, race, and presence of alcohol.16

yeah so basically all of this is inconclusive.

here's another study that is more conclusive:

Harvard Study: Smoking Weed Improves Brain Functions
Cognitive function goes better with pot.

http://www.thekindland.com/wellness/harvard-study-smoking-weed-improves-brain-functions-2330
"As part of a larger longitudinal study, 24 patients certified for MMJ use completed baseline executive function assessments and 11 of these so far have returned for their first follow-up visit 3 months after initiating treatment."
The rest forgot they were in a study.

Very interesting study, something to watch.

"This preliminary finding certainly warrants deeper and broader investigation.” This new study, therefore, is an important first step in exploring the effects of medical marijuana on cognitive performance and other aspects of brain function.

"Gruber believes that the age of the patients enrolled in the study, potential differences in the chemical composition of recreational and medical marijuana products, and the ways that products are used may account for the study findings. Medical marijuana products are often—but not always—low in THC, the primary psychoactive constituent of the plant, and high in other cannabinoids, including CBD, a non-psychoactive component touted for its therapeutic potential, which may also mitigate some of the negative effects of THC. Recreational marijuana, on the other hand, is typically prized for high THC levels and contains little to no CBD. As this study collects information on the specific chemical composition of the actual medical marijuana products used by patients, Gruber hopes to examine the impact of individual cannabinoids and combinations of these chemicals on different aspects of brain function."

The study itself is careful to state it is inconclusive, and has a number of limitations (including a small sample).
In addition, they have a very specific population using medical marijuana and in parallel reducing their opiate usage.
As a result, to attribute this to only marijuana without adequate controls is not a remotely accurate or scientific conclusion.

Medical marijuana is a wonderful thing.
To apply its benefits to the general population is not supported by the study.

Hey TC,

Mj can be pretty intense when you first take it for some people. When I first started I would trip so bad, but love it. I could never get that "high" again though. It's a new state of mind and can freak people out. The thing with drugs is you have to know you can only ride the high to get through it. But these things aren't for everyone, everyone seems to get affected differently.

What quantity/dosage edibles are you eating that take 2 hours to take effect and last for 24 hours?! Switch to Mota or Blessed Edibles. 20-30 minutes for them to kick in and come down in an hour or two. Dosage and strain is shown on label. Also, their products are very tasty.
Yesterday I ate about 65 mg sativa oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and then went for a massage, it was fantastic.:)
I'll admit that I used the term "edible" pretty loosely. In my case, I usually vape my weed and save the vaped weed to eat later, based on stuff I read on other forums (vaped weed still contains some THC). The first few times I tried eating the vaped weed, I barely felt anything, but then I found out I wasn't preparing it properly. The next time I tried eating it, I prepared it properly but I also increased my dose because the first few times didn't work well. That's where I fucked up, and ended up getting really fucked up. I did it at night, got too high, tried to sleep it off, was still groggy in the morning and beyond, took several naps throughout the day, and I was finally back to normal by the next evening. Since then, I've had better luck eating vaped weed, but still inconsistently. One of these days I'll try proper edibles. My main point was that eating weed is different than smoking or vaping it.

Big Rig, you're still interested - are you going to try smoking up?

That propaganda video is pretty goofy.

Your mind is weak. You didn't "feel" insecure. You are insecure. Weed is an entry-level psychadelic that mutes your ego.. Guess you weren't ready for the truth. Now eat a gram of shrooms and wake up
this guy gets it... but only a gram? I think 3.5g is a suitable, entry-level, perception-shifting dose. 1g runs the risk of.... nothing at all (unless you've got really potent mushrooms)

Ok, so somehow I have to find a dealer then I have to trust that dealer with quality control of said illegal hallucinogen by organized crime and then I have to self dose ...... no thanks

But I suspect tripping walker may be unto something. With apologies to Freud I will self analyze ... I have deep insecurities that dope brought to the forefront because my ego, which protects my conscious from my sub conscious insecurities , had been lowered.

Maybe I should get analyzed by a shrink

budmail is a great clearnet source for consistently potent psilocybin-containing fungi

also, the deepweb is an excellent source for domestically-shipped organic psychedelics such as psilocybin.

I would not procure psychedelics from anyone other than someone who deals exclusively with psychedelics. These types of people are likely to use/have used a pharmacopeia of psychedelics in varying doses and typically are a great source for knowledge/info about psychedelics. If you try to buy LSD off of someone just trying to push product then you likely won't get an honest/accurate answer regarding purity + dose. But that could be true of anyone, someone might just be a good liar.

Know your source. Trust your source. Weigh the dose. Take it easy.... but take it!

uhh are you sure he wasn't on something else? it's well known that marijuana doesn't cause any issues with your motor functions. maybe the guy was just a bad driver in general?
It is not "well known". What is "well known" is that different drugs react differently to different people. I cannot drive high. Tried it once, would never again. Some of the advice in this thread is downright scary.

The OP didn't like the trip. Why are people trying to convince him to try again? Is MJ necessary to live a full life?

so this is legal?????

If I do go that route a legal ayahuasca retreat in Peru with experts guiding me seems the best path

At the same time visit Machu Picchu

+++++++

I have expressly stated that I could not do simple tasks while stoned and that I was in a psychological state that is hard to describe but it was one of extreme anxiety yet some Terbs seem convinced dope makes you a better driver.

I have discussed my experience with a counselor at a legal dope clinic and she says I overdosed and my experience is not unique when first timers OD esp when they use oil

While dope does have genuine medicinal use, as a recreational drug it can be dangerous . I should know.

cannabis affects the hippocampus which plays important roles in the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory, and in spatial memory that enables navigation. When stoned we forget information we have learned while stoned. But it helps us make associations so we may be more creative

cannabis breaks down in oil so you cook it in butter and make cookies

people do get addicted to it

Not by itself, that would be horrible, and it wouldn't work. You need to heat it and consume it with oil/fat. I mixed it with peanut butter and microwaved it, then I poured that on ice cream. You can still taste it a bit and it's not good, but it works.

You can also cook with it, but I'm too lazy. It's pretty much the same as cooking with regular (unvaped) weed, but with less potency and different taste.

Hard to explain but I felt totally insecure and all my inner phobias came to the surface. Felt I was in a tunnel. All I wanted to do was sleep it off. Tried to listen to music but did not help. Stone gradually went away. Did not feel safe to drive for 24 hours. Glad I was at home when I experimented as I needed to be alone.

Flushed my stash. I will never do it again.
Never is a long time.

You can't handle cannabis, but want to try DMT?! Maybe pot is a gateway drug LOL. Or, just relax and try again - smoke a joint or take a hit from a vape instead of consuming an unknown amount of an unknown drug.

Same can be said about paying SPs for sexual services. Did you discuss hobbying with the counselor too?

So recreational use of cannabis is just about legal. There is ample information for adults to make adult decisions similar to with alcohol and addiction treatment facilities if necessary to help similar to with alcohol. For some cannabis will be old hat, for others cautious experimenting will occur with many unique experiences.
