I will go with what the CDC says: https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/information_h1n1_virus_qa.htmThe swine flu actually originated in a small part of central Mexico.......And you can’t even begin to compare that to a global pandemic in which the Chinese government could have swiftly prevented it from becoming one......Lots of pandemics originate from animals but that’s another topic altogether.....We’ve seen it before in the past: wet markets are the perfect breeding ground for zoonotic viruses in which we don’t have acquired immunity to....Oh yeah and after all that is said and done these wet markets aren’t even permanently banned yet.....Try to grasp that for just a moment now....
It is estimated that in the 2009 flu pandemic 11–21% of the then global population (of about 6.8 billion), or around 700 million to 1.4 billion people, contracted the illness—more in absolute terms than the Spanish flu pandemic. However, with about 150,000–575,000 fatalities, it had a much lower case fatality rate. In August 2010, the World Health Organization declared the swine flu pandemic officially over.
The close proximity of animals and humans makes Zoonotic illnesses inevitably more common as the overpopulation of the planet progresses. It is not a Chinese problem; it is a global problem. Viruses have no nationality.
Please stop beating the war drums, there are enough problems already.
