Hockey Night in Canada new Anthem

OMG i'm so happy that my friends Rob and Sandy got through this!!! Love those guys, they are great musicians and congrats to Colin Oberst for writing this great tune!! I personally love it! What do you guys think?? I know there is a lot of ppl who are pissed off about the fact of changing the anthem period, and there are a lot who don't think the new one is a right tune for being a national hockey anthem, but it did score higher then the other one, so i guess more people like it ...

mudmen are pretty cool! i was at cb once and Rob gave me a t-shirt. it's a little small on me so my wife wear's it.

btw- this blows the old HNIC theme outta the water! much better tune. thank God CBC retired that old tune. shoulda went to Hall of Fame instead of tsn, though.

For all intents and purposes, CTV/TSN and its snazzy, inspirational theme song is the new home of Hockey Night in Canada. CBC lost out big time.

Its just weird that CBC decided to run this contest to pick a new song. Too bad they couldnt keep the old one, but IMHO for writing the new tune they could also hire their own composers and do everything professionally instead of running this amateur contest. Even though a lot of professional musicians entered the contest and some did pretty good job. Jeez, even that other finalist song of a 13-year old boy wasnt too bad...

The new song has that "east coast" feel to it. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

IMHO, I think the kid had a better song.

It's not bad though.

It's hard to duplicate the strength of the original.

If the song happens to disappear in the next generation, then I wonder if people will revolt and try and keep the current song.

Let's just enjoy the game and stop worrying about the song.

This some is much more anthemic and powerful. It has a nice Calgarian western celtic-swing to it with the bagpipes. If this tune was played on the frontlines in the Scottish Highlands back in WWII, the Germans woulda surrendered much sooner.

Hey Fiona, no it wasn't Rob Campbell. (not one of the twins...) Rob Pearson- he helps promote them in some way... I think he's a roadie for figure skaters... maybe you know him- he's at CB alot.

I hardly doubt it, Hughson is the Most Boring Play by Play announcer I have ever heard.

He'd fit right in with Golf, Baseball or Parchese.

Bob Cole has seen his best years pass him by. He was fantastic.

Chris Cuthbert is pretty good but he is doing the Western games.

There is a lack of talent out there. My personal choice would be Joe Bowen.
Just kidding. Even though I think Joe is great, he would be great for LeafsTV exclusively...lol.

Randy Hahn is the absolute best there is, but no contract seems to be able to pull him outta beautiful and bountiful San Jose, California.

My apologies. I had forgotten that Cuthbert is with TSN.

CBC did not make the choice for the theme song. It was the viewers.
There must have been every person from the east coast voting.

Cole was getting a tad worse because of his advanced age but he was far and away on of the greatest. To say that he always sucked is ludricious.
