These guys got plenty of attention and support in the summer when BLM was on the forefront. There's more pressing matters in the world now so please fade into the background.

There are more pressing matters in the world than basic human rights? and looking into systematic racism and police brutality? ahhh the delightful sayings of someone whose life will never be threatened by law enforcement. Please spare us your nonsense about Marxism and destroying the suburbs.

I get where you're coming from, but basic human rights encompasses more issues than systematic racism and police brutality.
Are you suggesting that all professional sports leagues should be active and take measures on every front?

I'm guessing this is all down to money, yet again. The diversity group was likely asking for an immediate and massive spend amount and the NHL probably balked during a pandemic that is devastating their league and associated revenues.

Will be interesting to see how far diversity initiatives go when funded privately, or solely from players pockets.

What I am saying is everything in life is politics, these people who complain "keep politics out of sports" are usually of the right wing variety and only complain when someone makes them re-examine the world they live in and how it is run, but when Tom Brady is running around in a MAGA hat you dont hear a peep from them or they hoot and holler.

I'm always hearing the words diversity and inclusion all throughout the media these days. Specifically applied to sports.

I can't see anybody reasonable these days arguing against having the best athletes represent a team regardless of the colour of their skin.

That goes for management and ownership as well. I don't see anything political in a system based on merit.

Take it easy, chief. These guys were more focused on hockey as it related to black people in terms of growth, opportunities and inclusion. The NHL wanted to work with them but couldn't/didn't find common ground.

Here were their demands: https://hockeydiversityalliance.org/news-releases/our-ask-of-the-nhl.html. Plus, they wanted a hefty financial commitment ($100 million) and some other shit like changing the blue line to the black line and plastering their logo everywhere: https://thepostmillennial.com/change-blue-line-to-black-line-among-new-demands-hda-has-given-nhl

Given the current economic climate, I can see why the NHL was reluctant.

And don't give me this bullshit about human rights. The ongoing genocide in Sudan, Assad's oppression of the Syrian people, China's persecution of the Uighurs, now those are human rights issues. A black kid unable to afford a pair of skates doesn't qualify in my mind.

I think the Hockey Diversity group is making big demands...
They are because their negotiating strength has never been better. It's bad timing for them because the Pandemic is in full force and money is tight everywhere. They need to be more realistic in their demands.

I don't think it looks good that they 'huff and puff' and leave the talks...

Life must be rough on the mean streets of Pickering

Tom Brady had the MAGA hat in his locker. Find a picture where Brady is "running around in a MAGA hat" that isn't photoshopped

Evander Kane regularly posted himself with stacks of Benjamin's on his social media page, that didn't help the cause.

The NHL has really pushed the female hiring nonsense but not the minority hiring so they may have a point there.

Evander Kane did that regularly?
I recall one instance.
The time I recall was 3? 4? 5? years ago.

Why is hiring females nonsense?
