What do you do for a living that makes tens of thousands of dollars in savings cheap?

As for music, if music doesn't pay, go find a job that does. Musicians are are non-essential. Sing, dance, dress-up, and entertain me. That's all folks.

If I print out a copy of a painting that I like, will you be crying about all the starvings artists out there, too?

When virtual reality allows you to break into my virtual home, you'll have an analogy worth its salt.

Lastly, you're not a rebellious teenager anymore. Time to de-emphasize the role of music in defining yourself.
What do you do"

Are you an accountant? No need for your services then. Just download an app an have a computer do your accounting. No need for advice on investing, retirement and your children's education.

Are you a city worker? No need for your services then. Any program can process the information necessary. No need to know when your street will be cleaned, your recreation centre will be staffed or if your recycling will be picked up.

Are you a craftsman or a manufacturing worker? No need for your services then. A computer program will paint your house, build your car or mow your lawn. No need to ask advice on shades of colour for your living room, options on comfort in your car or style of shrubbery on your front lawn.

You can just do download it for free!

Musicians are non essential you say? Ok then. Next time team Canada wins the goal medal and raise the flag doing so, no need for the national anthem. We'll just do it in silence and have no unifying melody for the proud watching all over the world.

When your children get married, no need for a song at first dance then. Then can slowly walk out to the middle of the dance floor in silence and just stand there.

When you walk past a school yard, you won't hear children singing. No need for children to sing songs. Since musicians are non essential, there are no songs for them to learn anyway.

Imagine all the people living life in...oh, sorry about that. Got carried away.

Virtual theft? I wonder if the day will come when people are credit card scammed via on line criminals. These credit cards are inside your wallet that sits on your dresser in your home. I believe the salt is in the shelf in your home not far from your wallet.

It's a cold and dangerous world that thieves can create. If someone provides a valued service that earns a client base, essential or not, it deserves its due. The same way anyone's honest work deserves its due.

Faceless theft is the most shameful of all. Be it a teenager or an adult who knows better.

HMV, blockbuster, etc, totally missed the boat. They could have been Spotify and Netflix. They had the brand name to get the audience. They could have promoted their online services through their stores in the early days when not everybody had fast internet.

But instead they saw streaming services and the internet as the enemy and a passing fad.

Fuck em. Not innovative enough to survive.

He doesn't have any of those jobs. He just stays at home playing with his small cock. He plays with it while watching free downloads of porn off the internet because what is the point in going out and paying an SP for it when he can get it at home for free?
It is obviously the same thing isn't it?

The millions of cheap assholes like him are the reason why the days of going to a store and buying music or DVDs is coming to an end.
I can see the future where as soon as all of the music stores are finally closed then music producers will no longer allow their products to be sold online as downloads. That would be awesome to see all those assholes that killed the industry trying to live without their music.
Thank goodness I will still have my thousands of albums, cassettes and CDs to listen to.

There is all kinds of software that does accounting for people who choose not to use an accountant. City workers do need a haircut. Better technologies have and will continue to replace them, too. Besides that, I don't see your analogy. A computer program can't clean or build my house and that's why architects and construction workers are in demand and paid accordingly. Nobody is getting paid when we sing the national anthem. We are not artists - we are very day people singing a tune for our country. Online credit card theft already abounds.

The best things in life are free and that includes art.

Would you like to work for free? Would you like wasting years studying or honing your craft, make a lot of money for others but not get paid yourself?

Let's be fair, the entertainment industry fucked themselves over. The internet came along and introduced an easy way to conveniently access music, television, and movies and store it on a local drive for easy viewing at any time. The industry had a chance to adopt strategies to take advantage of this, but instead they stuck with the old way of doing things because it was incredibly profitable for them to wrap it all up in red tape and restrictions. Now they're reaping their reward.

Not that I condone downloading media for free, but even putting aside the monetary aspect, using a torrent engine is still the easiest way to access the largest array of media available. Its only drawback is quality...sometimes.

Yet still, the entertainment industry is a dinosaur when coming to grips with the new reality.

It goes to show that audio is not very important when it comes to a medium like CDs or digital files. Concerts make tons of money. Movies make tons of money, yet you don't see people waiting for someone to upload a torrent. People are willing to pay $13 to watch a 2 hr movie on a big screen in week one. And add in food and drinks and your 2 hr experience might end up being $20 or more.

Yet for music, many people don't even want to pay $1 for a song. That's because it's easy and fast to download a low quality 128k bit (most audio files) and that is good enough for their ears. I think most people have downloaded songs they didn't pay for. But if someone said you have to pay $1 for each song, so pony up $100, $200 or more, I think most people would say forget it and you can have the song back. Only for their most favourite artists and songs will someone pay.

And for people willing to pay for many files, I think most people cherry pick their favourite tunes for cheap instead of forcing themselves to buy an entire album. In the old days, records and CDs sold well bringing in high revenue because there was no internet and if you wanted that hit song or two, you had to buy the whole 13 song album for $15.

I have about 150 music CDs. If an avg CD has 12 songs on it, that's 1,800 songs. I'd estimate on each album there might be 2-3 songs I like, while the other 9-10 are trash. Yet I had to buy the whole package.
