HIV rumor

Ok, I realize this can really stir up crap and at this point it's all heresay. I have no direct involvement but I want to know if ANYONE else has heard this. I am not going to name names and it's going to sound totally fictional but here goes.

I talked to an SP this morning who heard from another well known SP that a recently retired SP had become HIV infected from a guy who was carrying full blown AIDS. This guy apparently saw about 37 girls and the ministry of Health went and called the SPs he saw. The SP I talked to, the one she heard it from and the one who supposedly got infected are/were very well known girls. The first two have tested negative. But the fact remains that the entire industry in Toronto is now "tainted".

I have no reason that either of them are making this up but I'm surprised there hasn't been any mention in the media about this. I recall a guy last year they announced after he had unprotected sex with 8 "girlfriends".

I'm sure you're all gonna jump on me for spreading a rumor but I don't know how else I can verify this. Can I call the Ministry and ask them if they're aware of this "situation"? I'm not asking for names.

Hard to say, but would the Ministry of Health give out details about the guy, like how many SP's he has seen to someone that they are contacting to warn.

In a word......NO.

Unless they start to find more positive cases. Then an advisory may go out. Names would not be given out of the infected though, cripple the whole industry.

Then my point is that when you hear something from someone who heard it from someone else and has more details than you would expect then chances are someone is lying or exaggerating and rumours start.

I've been trying to warn so many of the guys and gals here on Terb to stick to safe sex but I still read all these guys post they want BBBJ with CIMSW, Rimming several guys each day, etc... and the more desparate ladies do it for money, damn it just is ridiculous and frustrating to read that over and over again and these people have no idea of the high risk and how bad things have become in TO. Just call the Hassel Free Clinic and you'll get a real eye opener.

Guys should stop putting pressure on the girls to provide unsafe sex and the ladies should not give in, tell the guy to leave if they insist, your health is worth way more than a few bucks.

You'll never be able to change human nature.... just stick to girls that are constantly reviewed for fully covered service, and let others do what they want.

This advice is given constantly, we're all big kids here and can make our own decisions. Just like the SP's can make their own choices, so can the clients.

The conflict arises when you badger people by telling them the same thing over and over. You ever had anyone say "Holy Shit, I never knew... thanks!".
Advice should only be given once.....

I understand the OP's intentions.

It is alarming to hear a "story", and thats all it is at this point, regarding SP's and HIV.

As to the Minitry publishing names. I don't know what the legal responsibilies would be in this case. The obvious downside is that no one uses their real names. Without pictures we'd be unlikely to match a real name to the working name unless someone knew them a bit more personally than others. Even then, there would be an element of suspicion on anyone claiming it was "Ms. X"

I would expect the Ontario Health Ministry to announce a warning very quickly if this story is indeed true. Even without names they would issue a warning to ensure safe sex guidelines are followed. The implications of HIV active and spreading through the sex trade industry would be huge. They could not sit on that information for very long.

Until that happens, as funguy said...best be safe!

I guess the government should stop telling all the adults to have protected sex. They should only tell them once and let them do what they want? Why does the government spend millions on ads and education on problems with unprotected sex? Why do they keep driving the message over and over and over? Not just to teens, but adults also.

It's not easy to change human nature, but you can. I was stupid and always looked for BBBJ, but when I got educated on the risks, especially in this industry, man I changed big time. I might be stupid in other areas now, but not when it comes to STD's. lol Judging by some of the posts, some guys on here are living in denial or are either uniformed or misinformed.

The privacy laws that govern the civil service, including the Ministry of Health, are really strict.

Even if you thought you knew the name of the retired SP, the ministry couldn't confirm the name ... and may not even confirm that the person was an SP. It's that strict.

As for issuing a warning, I don't know if that's something that would be considered. Unfortunately, the information would likely be so vague that it probably wouldn't do anything to clarify the situation.

I'm just guessing, but I suspect the only way this will get any publicity -- if it's true -- is if the guy who is alleged to have infected the former SP is charged with knowingly spreading HIV.

And once you've developed symptoms...can we be assured you will never accept a single cent of public funding for your treatment and care of you and your family while we all wait for you to die? Or will you willingly accept public health care when you were warned prior?

Interesting question isn't it?

Agreed. No offense to the EE's and experienced PSE type SP's, but this is one of the main reasons I always stick with the newbie, rookie SP's and avoid the high-mileage and EE types that see 5-10 guys a night offering BBBJ, DFK, Rimming, etc to everyone. Fortunately, I also happen to be more attracted to the younger, fresh types and am turned off by high-mileage.

Yep, except I don't even care about the reviews, I prefer to be the first one in there to try out the non-experienced ones. Makes it more exciting.

You ever drink/smoke/eat..... all these activities can have repercussions. Take the appropriate precautions and you can minimize risk, but you can never eliminate it. There is one dangerous STD out there that requires blood precautions, the rest are treatable.
I will never advocate BB anything to anyone, will take the risk of BBBJ myself only and only BBBJ. I will never advocate for BB, will never lecture against it.
Anyone wants to find their risk comfort level, do research and decide what you want.
What annoys me is when people decide that it is their lifelong goal to tell others that they are wrong, and that they know better. And KEEP REPEATING IT! I see something wrong, I point it out, I educate, I debate. If the advice is not taken, I move on.
If I get cancer from working with industrial chemicals because I want something more than a 7-11 clerk salary does that negate my allowance for healthcare. If somebody drinks and drives do you let them die if they are injured in an accident? Even if the other person was the cause?
Sorry to ramble... but my point is I am not my brothers keeper, but I do have a social responsibilty to share knowledge NOT decide for him. And society has a responsibilty to help each other. I pay school taxes, and have no children. I pay CPP but will never collect it. I pay EI but never want to collect it. I used to pay for medical in another province, but never saw a doctor. These things I do for the benefit of others in a society.
As for the "I used to do it, but now know better and will keep telling everyone whether they want to listen or not...." start a church and preach elsewhere please.
p.s. let's get back to the gossip, I'll post no further on this topic.

You're right...you rambled.

But you didn't answer the question. It wasn't about smoking or dangerous chemicals. It was about HIV. And not the matter of how safe you think a BBBJ is...you are still at risk. Thats not a debatable point. Even 1 percent is a risk. Yes we all weigh the odds.

Good for you for not being a burden on health care up till now. But the question was would you refuse public healthcare if you became infected with HIV?

It is a different question.

My opinions on this do not really differ much from yours. I do believe it's about personal choice, but I am amazed at how many are not well educated in regards to the risk they or others close to them may incurr due to their hobby. It's sad when most of the experienced SP's all get tested regularly while few men in the hobby ever get tested.

And, it always amazes me how people cry for a cure when they knew the risks going in. Ever heard of a con on death row that hasn't found religion while waiting? Pretty much the same thing.

My original point still holds. We'll never know who's got what as we all use an alias.

Refuse healthcare....no. Risk, virtually 0. HIV is one of the weakest viruses in existence, outside of the blood stream. Inside the blood stream, nasty. Again I repeat, blood precautions should always be taken....even more important than a condom for HIV, condoms can rip, get damaged.
Even with your CFS you have as much risk as BBBJ, both of which are less than BBFS.
Most HIV is through microtears where surface capillaries are ruptured in both parties.....Greek, unlubricated vaginal, oral with bleeding gums and teeth involved....requires friction to cause the rupturing of vessels, condom will help reduce the friction in most cases but not always.
First thing I notice about a SP is their smile.... now you know why.

Note: as far as problems with aliases... in a case of HIV, you don't co-operate with the Health Department, you go to jail until you do. There was a case involving that in Vancouver years ago, the guy was in jail for 3 months before he realized that fact.

Another reminder why we should NEVER EVER accept BBFS from an SP (if you are a client) or client (if you are an SP) no matter how sincere it sounds where they say "I would never do this with anyone else"

I remember seeing something like this awhile back but it was in
the Hamilton area. I looked at the http://www.spoc.ca/bad.html
website (spoc) and this particular gent has a description and pic posted
on this site. Scary shit but I am sure it happens more than we know.

As expected, it wasn't health officials who brought this story to the public's attention, it was the police.

It will likely be the same scenario here, if this rumour is true. If someone is accused of knowingly spreading HIV, it is possible the police will publicize the case. Otherwise, I don't anticipate that health officials will be doing anything.

Gotta hand it to F-G - he has been a firm evangelist for no BB service of any kind. This kind of thing - whether truth or just rumour should shake some of us silly - Guys, if you have seen any of the high volume, wide menu girls in the last 6 months go and get tested-for Gods sake you have people that love you that you could be infecting. If you can't trust your Doctor go to the hassle free clinic. You should be getting tested at least annually if you are going to play - I went to my Dr. yesterday and went for the tests today - it is simple and fast - now I have to wait 2 weeks for the results, but man, it will be great peace of mind when it comes back negative. Listen to Fun-Guy!!

Another anonymous way of getting tested.... and help people out.... give blood.
Donated blood is always screened for HIV, plus they will notify if it comes back.
They used to have a screen of not using people using SP's and may still, but I have not given since hobbying.
But it is an innocent way of getting tested.

Sounds like the case that Bianca cited was a streetwalker. This is yet another reason why it's a good idea to deal only with established SPs, who advertise online with facial photos -- and for SPs to deal only with customers who are willing to verify. Sadly, these days, most SPs are too greedy and desperate and they'll take anyone who calls from a payphone. I admit to finally having to do it myself, to remain competitive. But the fact is that someone who KNOWS they're HIV+ (or going to rob or assault you) is going to want to remain anonymous.

We all take risks in this business. One of the least risks is that of unprotected sex because no one of us has to do it if we don't want to. Both SPs and hobbyists should bring their own condoms and insist upon using them -- if they don't, then they've made their choice.

But few of us can protect ourselves against the more insidious and pressing threat of being assaulted or ripped off. We have no way of knowing who might do this to us -- the only way we can feel safe is to deal only with known, verifiable partners.

Play safe!
