And that's a problem that should be condemned and addressed as well. in case you haven't noticed, there has been a significant backlash to the stars and bars and there are very few people who aren't aware of the connotations and people who actually are aware of history know that the whole southern pride thing was explicitly in opposition to blacks gaining civil rights. Saying the battle flag isn't about racism is like trying to argue that the civil war wasn't about slavery.

Just like it is important to educate people about systemic discrimination against blacks and its symbols, it is important to educate people about the connection between these Ukrainian symbols and nazi atrocities.

But if you think it's okay to base a national identity on nasty people as long as people don't talk too openly about it...
You're missing the point - which is that those Nazi insignia mean a totally different thing to the Ukrainians.

So judging the current Ukrainian government as evil because it utilizes symbols which are repugnant to you and me and other westerners is inaccurate.

And stop trying to put words in my mouth. You're as bad as Dutch or JC.

The strangest thing is that Russian-language press do not even mention the slogan, they are against that the shirts show the map of Ukraine with Crimea that Russia occupied in 2014. But the Russian news in English concentrate on the slogan. Anything else you need to know about Russian propaganda?
