I read an article in The Sun Yesterday, about a new activity in Britain, called dogging. There were a couple of web-sites listed, and i went to them. Now there is a dialer downloaded on my PC, and when I boot up, a device detector says I have a PCI device, and a multimedia audio controller found, do I want to install? I THINK I've gotten rid of the dialer, but when I go online, I get a message saying "svchost.exe has created an error..." Can anyone help?

Well, if you just use your Commordore Vic 20, this type of problem wouldn't happen...

I suggest you shut off your computer and call the chat lines - its safer.

svchost.exe is all you have to enter in google. I got the same thing, and there is actually a discussion forum (somewhat like TERB) where I found the solution (it was the top pick for my search criteria). If I recall correctly I just had to delete it from my registry.

First- if you have a dialer remove it...

go to start/search

in the search field type dailer.exe

remove dialer... program

then go and get either

Mcafee Stinger

or

Nortons Virus removal tool ( the latest one)

use it

install a a really good commercial anti-virus

thanks

Thanks to you all. I've now got Spybot, and Alarm plus, both of which seem great.

I believe in a previous thread, several people were concerned that spybot is itself also spyware and difficult to remove if you discover that it is affecting your system in any negative way.
