There is absolutely no way that any of these people could go straight into an executive chef role (I actually disagree with your assessment of the title), and the culinary skills are a secondary reason. More importantly not a single one of these people has any experience with the business side of things, yet you expect me to believe that they'll be handling product orders and inventory, staffing, and other kitchen-related business matters? I doubt it, and if they aren't doing that, then they certainly aren't an executive chef.
The point I was trying to make was that there is no designation "Executive Chef", where you put in the needed hours and get tested. There are no papers you would receive for this title as you would Chef de Cuisine or Master Chef. Anyone opening a restaurant can give himself the title "Executive Chef"!

There is the CEC designation, which is the Certified Executive Chef, where you do get tested. The majority of those who call themselves "Executive Chefs", however are not certified.

Interestingly, many of those in the profession scoff at the CMC designation, believing it to be more about competition rather than working in a restaurant. My understanding is that Executive Chef has simply become a synonym for Chef de Cuisine, but many who are not entitled to the designation use it. Just because one has chef's papers doesn't mean they are working as a Chef de Cuisine, they may still be working somewhere in the brigade.

Cristina and Petrozza. I didn't think the old guy would make it. Well done for him.

is it just me, or it really seems like neither of the finalists really stick out this year? They were much more marketable in the previous seasons.
You are correct. All the "reality" shows seem to get watered down over time.

I like the entertainment value of these shows, but that is what it is "entertainment"

Kitchen Nightmares is cool, I like when he helps turn these businesses around. To many people think the restaurant business is easy just because they "think" they can cook at home.

As for the way he talks to people, there is no need of it. No wonder restaurants have such a huge turn around in staff, belittling staff is far to common a practice in kitchens.

Now these people know how to cook!

However, if you want to see an actual chef's competition, Top Chef will be starting soon, June 24 at 10pm on Food.
Totally agree, this is a cooking competition, they are all proven before they come on the show and not just people that are there for idiotic out takes. The show premiered on the food network last night and the cast seems as good as ever.

The range of things they have to cook, timelines, ingredients, and knowledge that they must have makes it a much tougher competition then Hells Kitchen. 90% of the cast are better at cooking then anyone on Hells Kitchen from what I can see.

Padma, the host of Top Chef is total eye candy to boot.

Must admit, I love the Kitchen Nightmares with Ramsay though.

I don't think anyone jumped you. lol. Are you new here? I for one just didn't think he would make it but I said he had an outside chance. I can admit when I am wrong.

I still don't think he will win but you never know. We will see how creative Petrozza is next week.

Petrozza picked his smoking buddies instead of the best chefs. lol. He should have picked Cory if anything so she would work with Christina. Petrozza basically picked the team that lost time after time.

It should be interesting newt week.

I think Petrozza will pick Matt as his last team member, and stick Christina with Jen...after all, nobody wants Jen.

Jen's still a sourpuss now after she's gone from the show. She says she wants to show Chef Ramsey he made a mistake.

I pretty sure I heard Ramsey say to Jen "What are you trying to do? Are you trying to screw her?" on the preview for next week.

Ya he said that, but did you guys hear her sound bite of "I don't want to be here". Hopefully she'll read some forum boards about the show and how damn annoying a bitch she is. Maybe she'll clue in then...?

People like that just assume that it is everyone else that has a problem and not themselves.

Well Ramsey picked the kid with upside over the seasoned guy. (Which seemed apparent for a long time.)

After watching the final I was hoping Petrozza was going to win. I bet he gets job offers after the show somewhere. :)

Just think Jen could be cooking at a Denny's near you. Some time soon.

I was hoping for Petrozza, but from how Christina dominated the individual challenges it seemed like she was destined for it.

About 25 minutes into the show, they showed clips from later on in the show and one was from the final party. It looked like Christina jumping around while Petrozza was standing there. It might not have been, but it sure looked like it.

I'm sure Petrozza will land on his feet. I'm sure Jen would, if she could get her feet out of her mouth :)

No Denny's near me. :D

Cory should have a bright future some where as well.
