Do any of you folks get headaches? When do you get them? What kind of headache? Is it a sharp pain, a dull pain, an ache, a tenseness, etc.? What do you do for relief?

Advil, usually works unless it's a caffeine withdrawal headache, in which case Advil with coffee.

Caffeine speeds the way ibuprofen works, which is why Advil has it built in.

I don't get sharp pains, more a severe ache, usually pounding. I can sometimes feel it in my temples, the blood vessels there are being pumped a lot harder.

Last year I was using my cell phone alot for various reasons and previously I hadnt hardly used it and I started getting VERY BAD HEADACHES every day. I stopped putting the cell phone up to my head (used head piece) and the headaches went away. Just a thought...

Home Medications

a. A paste of clove and salt crystals is prepared in milk. The main curative ingredient in this is salt, which, being hygroscopic, absorbs the fluids in the head and decreases the tension.

b. Early morning after waking up dab an apple with salt and eat it. After that, drink some warm water or milk. Continuing this for ten days will reduce the problem of continuous headaches.

c. Peel a piece of garlic. Put it in the mouth and chew it slightly. Let its juices spread around the mouth region and upwards into the head. Keep on chewing the garlic mildly and allow the juices to spread. Within some minutes the headache would disappear. This treatment works even for the most persistent of headaches.

d. For headaches that are caused due to common colds, drinking a decoction of coriander and sugar helps tremendously. One more method to clear common cold related headaches is to place both feet in warm water for about half an hour.

e. For headaches that are caused due to excessive gas in the stomach, drinking a glass of warm water with a fresh lemon squeezed in it brings the headache as well as the gas problem down.

f. Grind some cinnamon and make it into a paste with water. Apply this on the head. This reduces headaches.

g. Soak some almonds in water overnight. In the morning, grind them into a paste and warm them slightly in ghee. Mix this in water and drink. This helps in treating headaches that have been going on since a long time.

h. Drinking a glass of water in which jaggery has been mixed helps in reducing headaches.

Simple cooked vegetables without oil, vegetable juices and soup, fruits like apple, mango, grapes and fruit juices should be taken in ample quantities. Rice, salad and buttermilk are also good.

Some sweets and milk products can be taken moderately with small quantities of nuts.

Hot cow milk is very good to drink.

Avoid fried foods, meat, sour and spicy foods and foods.

Yogurt should be avoided, especially at night.

Adequate rest should be taken and exposure to cold, heat and rain should be avoided.

The natural urges (sneezing, passing stool and urine, hunger, thirst, sleep, breathing and yawning etc.) should not be suppressed.

The patient should also try to keep the mind free from anxiety, anger, mental tension and worry.

I have been a sufferer for as long as I remember. My first migraine was experienced when I was 5 years old. I have been to may doctors and tried many different solutions to no avail. I have suffered from tension, sinus, cluster, migrain, withdrawal, etc headaches. Ultimately they all hurt. The only one I think I have not experienced directly is the menstral migrain.

Take a look here for some info too.

I have a couple of friends who suffer from chronic migraines. They say it is the worst pounding type of pain which is barely tolerable.

My phone girl Kate was getting terrible migraines for years due to air pressure; I suggested Botox and they stopped within the 3 days it takes to set within the muscles. Katie now swears by it. If you are looking at doing this I suggest going to a doctor who does this specifically and not a beauty clinic (contact me if you need a contact name and number).

Thanks lawyerman for those. I often suffer from headache but I hate taking medication unless absolutely necessary. I will give those a try.
I don't like taking medication either.

You are very welcome. Anytime.

I used to get headaches as a kid, my mother (bless her soul) always put a cold face cloth on the back of my neck. It takes it away in minutes.
I cant stand taking meds unless absolutely necessary and still use the face cloth trick to this day when the ache comes. it is always the same, a dull constant thud in the front right side of my head.

Thanks for the offer but it is two acquaintances (not I) who suffer those terrible migraines and I don't know them well enough to offer any advice. Personally, I occasionally get a "tension" headache when I am stressed (usually female related:p ).
