Is both a misleading and inaccurate statement. The United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti MINUSTAH was not and is not an occupation force, one can criticize the U.N. Stabilization Mission without making just plain untrue statements, further calling the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of Mission as "head" of MINUSTAH is misleading if one is implying that the HOM is exercising operational control over the Military or Police detachments.

As to the article itself, seemingly there is a disagreement between the adoption of third world children by first world couples and child trafficking. Sadly this is not uncommon, sometimes there is trafficking, other times good loving couples are caught up in totally untrue accusations and children who could have had good loving adoptive parents instead live the rest of their childhoods institutionalized in poverty stricken orphanages.

Mothers who became pregnant out of wedlock were pressure to give their babies up for adoption to families in North America and Europe. However the mothers never received any money for the children. The families that adopted the children paid between 20,000 and 50,000 US in legal fees. Or so they were told. This was a huge business for Law firms in Canada, US and Europe And of course Guatemala. LawrLawyers in Guatemala average about 15 adoption s a month and were paid on average $15,000 US per child. The rest of the money was kept by the law firms in Canada, US, And Europe.
