Anyone else use the Rogers-Scientific Atlanta HD PVR? Do you notice that when you record a show that is broadcast in HD on an American channel and Canadian channel simultaneously, the show is not broadcast in true HD, and also stops and starts constantly? I always have to record the time-shifted broadcast (so the Canadian network doesn't ruin the feed) in order to get a proper resolution and uninterrupted recording.

Is this unavoidable because of some kind of technological deficiency of the Canadian networks, or is there a firmware fix or anything? I tried finding the equivalent on some digital forums  but was unsuccessful.

I have the same problem. I recorded "house" the other day and it was broken into about 10 parts...pretty annoying actually.

I used to have that problem, but I called Rogers and they fixed it without having to send a service tech. I'm sorry but I have no idea how or what they did to fix it but it hasn't come back since.

There is a known problem with recording Fox Buffalo in HD where the programmes get chopped up. The only sure way to avoid it is to avoid recording Fox HD on the Buffalo station and use the Seattle feed of Fox or one the Canadian simulcasts (CTV or Global). You should also unplug the PVR to force it to reboot to help clear the problem.

A tech told me it is a rogers problem, not hardware. That's why it won't get fixed. Fox is bad for that.
