Most people I've spoken to (who are covidiot pro-lockdowners) will be visiting family during the holidays, which we all know goes against our government's recommendations. Some are traveling to small towns in the outskirts of the GTA. Others are traveling out of province. Spread far and wide.

HBC has been in financial trouble way before the pandemic. They haven't been paying rent way before the pandemic and have been facing bankruptcy way before the pandemic. Staying open during the pandemic isn't going to save them. It's now the final nail in the coffin for HBC.

No sympathy for HBC ownership / leadership from me. As far as I am concerned, HBC screwed its shareholders over in the years leading up to it going private in early 2020. Fate kicked HBC in the teeth, though, as the timing was such that the legal stuff got done and HBC went private right about the time Covid hit.
