Ok guys (and gals), here's the situation. On Thursday afternoon, I finalized plans to meet with someone who shall remain nameless but I've been dying to have a go with her. It's been very difficult to get our schedules synced and we've finally settled on a date near the end of this month.

Friday afternoon, the big honcho called everyone into the office meeting room and said that sales have been really poor for the year. End result was that a few people were let go.

My position is secure for now but it all depends on what happens over the next little while.

Question is, should I go ahead with the rendezvous or cancel for now? So, what's the verdict? Which brain takes precedence? :)

Go for it

Why would you wimp out? If you are scared, your sales will go down and you WILL be axed. Show some macho resolve, bang the lady and make some sales. You're more likely to succeed with your adrenalin flowing and your pecker up. Life is full of risks. In the end, we will all die so live a little.

Well, you asked . . .

Depends

It really depends on how many hours appointment is it? For an hourly appointment go for it. After all you will have something positive in your life. If it is multiple hourly appointment then reduce the number of hours because of the uncertainty in the work place. You can make up for it in the future when the financial condition of your company improves. However, if you think that the stress at work place will have an impact on your encounter (you cannot concentrate well etc.) then cancle it entirely.

Danibbler,

No one's job is ever secure - unless you're a mortician or the tax man. You can't live your life by worrying about losing your job. Any of us at any time can lose our jobs. If you can afford to see her now, then see her now. Have some fun!

Interesting replies here! So far, all positive but the poll's result is showing some negativity. :)

To clarify, I am actually not in sales. Ironically, I have been looking elsewhere because I am enrolled for the CFA (Level 1) and my job does not have the necessary level of "investment decision making process" to qualify.

Am leaning towards keeping the rendezvous...why? because it's taken months to get this one!!! grrrr...

If you don't go for it, you will just stew about it for a long time to come. This will have a longer term negative affect on your work performance. You obviously want it, so take it and enjoy it. Life is too short.

Leave it for a rainy daqy

She'll more than likely be there next year, your job may not. Then think of all the fun you'll be missing. This is a hobby for most, which means it occupies spare time (lol) and spare money (lol).

Good luck!!!!!!

Definitely keep the appointment. Time spent with a worthy sp is the best thing going for keeping on top of your mental game. Whatever your job is - confidence and focus are always key elements to success. Spending time with someone you've been waiting ... wanting to see ... is rewarding. You can't risk the self-doubt that will linger over you if you pass up on this one. Keep the appointment to a short visit and leave your work problems OUTside her door. Have some fun and focus on giving her some pleasure too.

Ok folks, I've pretty much made up my mind here!

I am going to keep the appointment! As most of you pointed out, life is too short and too unpredictable. I've been wanting to see this lady since before March but our schedules (and my lack of opportunities) have been topsy-turvy.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and their votes. It was fun...but not as fun as I think this lady is. ;)
