Done it. Had some success. Many guys do very, very well.

He gives you some education in terms of nutrition and eating habits. The support of other guys and their success is a form of inspiration. I didn't find his talks very inspiring. He gives you a schedule of things you can eat and portion size. Some things are unlimited in quantity so you don't have to go hungry.

He is worth a try.

My friend did it, its like a weight watchers for men. Except he's very expensive, at WW they also give you a plan and when you go weight in they also have a talk. Most diets work, the issue is keeping it up for the long term and understanding that you have to change your eating habits. I think WW has a mens meeting too downtown..

I was introduced to his program in another city by one of his former students who was following the same formula.
It's basically a support group for overweight men. From what I gather, a very strong and successful support group.
His slogan is perfect. Something along these lines.

If you could have done it yourself, you would have done it by now.

Very clever and also very true.

I did it a few years ago, dropped 45 lbs in about 6 months. Hauling my ass out the door Sunday morning to go to the session with a room full of men that outweighed me by 100 lbs. was therapeutic! I knew I didn't want to get to that size. It was definitely worth the money for me. Kept the weight down after and if it creeps up...know what to do to bring it back.

What kind of costs are involved?
Check his site for current pricing. It was a few years ago I went and it was about $1000 to reach my target in 6 months. If I didn't reach it, would have to pay more....since I reached my target, I was free to come back for refreshers, weigh ins etc. for life. Dropped in again on occasion for the next year, but it has now been a few years since I have climbed those stairs.

I've got an idea. Eat less and exercise more. But if you are way over weight I could see how the support and motivation would help.

So what do you do when it starts creeping back up? Start the diet again?
Yes, but it is nothing radical. You eat from all the food groups. You control your portions and you avoid the crap.

He gives you a chart and assigns different foods to different groupings. Some groupings you can have unlimited amounts and some groupings are much more restricted. As well he gets you record everything that you ingest. It increases your awareness by writing it down and also allows him to see where you may be making mistakes.

Basically yes. One of the mantra quotes of Harvey is "I don't eat that anymore..." when I start creeping up in weight, this pops into my head and I get back on track. It is really easy to put on weight if you eat in restaurants (or fast food places)....you really need to watch what you eat, and drink, all the time....which is the difficult bit because we all like to think, "I've been good, I can have some ....."

Is it low carb or you allowed to eat sugar products and flour?

No to sugar....some carbs yes, limited quantities. It is really about portion sizes....check him out, worth a visit to the man on a Sunday morning...they will, as I recall, welcome you and give you an intro package of material and explain the system to you...all before you have to sign up or put out a nickel, or two.
