So what I been hearing is that BLM and Pride organizers have agreed that there will be no TPS float next year ????????

WOW, one of the biggest promoters of #TOPride2016 and they cave into BLM demands.

BLM only matters when it's in their interest. When black people are killing black people, BLM activist seem to disappear.

Andrew Loku, 45, a mentally ill black man who had immigrated from South Sudan, was shot dead outside his apartment in July after he refused to put down a hammer. A few days after his death, protesters blocked a local highway and demanded that the officers be identified and charged
I hate that the BLM movement in Canada has chosen this as their main case. The issue in that case is mainly in the way that police deal with the mentally ill. They don't have enough deescalation techniques or the patience to use them. Also the case was an unstable guy swinging a hammer; hardly comparable to the numerous high profile cases in the US with unarmed and non-criminal black youth.

The BLM protest was really uncalled for, IMO. What the fuck were they even protesting?

Some reports suggest that if he wasn't carded he would still be alive. So the question is was there a reason to card him?
...
My issue with carding is that there are many known criminals and people who loiter in known high crime areas that should be regularly stopped. Standing around on a known drug corner sure seems like probable cause to me. I don't know how to accomplish that without violating the rights of the truly innocent especially because cops aren't known for their subtlety.

And we all know that the way you respond to police has a big part in how they react to you. Granted being a middle aged white guy I'm looked at with less suspicion but if I started giving the cops attitude I expect to get some back (and yes, I have been smacked around by cops when I was a young punk and cussed them out - and I deserved it).

Side story: A guy I know who was up to no good in his teens told me he felt safer with carding because the regular checks would prevent the other thugs from packing every day.

Black Lives Matter Co-founder DEMANDS “White Folks” Stop Saying “All Lives Matter”…It’s Racist!
I'm pretty sure I saw a float that said "all lives matter". Hard to see some of the floats when the crowd is 6 deep everywhere.

Next, BLM will demand that white folks be banned from the Gay Pride Parade.

Note to self: Next year get a more powerful water gun. The gay guys had the advantage of the high ground because they were standing on top of flatbed trucks.

Totally agree that the main issue here is the lack of training vs mentally ill.

I see your point. But the cops have to understand that not everyone will automatically respond well. When that happens there needs to be strategies including just retreating.

I'm pretty sure I know the reason for this.

The LGBT community recently received the apology for the bath house raids. And now they are jealous of that and hate the fact the cops got good press for it. So they did this to cause a disturbance in the hope they would be forcibly removed.

Instead the head of Pride played it right. He signed their stupid document and moved them along. Now watch as he meets with the police and the city. I'm sure the meeting will go something like "sorry to have to sign it, ithought it best to difuse the situation for now rather than escalate it. Now what can we do to discredit these idiots so they don't mess with the parade again. And don't worry, we'edd much rather have the cops on our side ".

Man I'd like to see these BLM jackasses try to pull this a Caribana. They would get their asses handed to them and be completely discredited if the try. The cops should announce a float in it just to get the ball rolling and then stand back and watch.

I know a police officer who is a gay black woman. Wonder what BLM would have to say to her? Is she allowed to go to the parade as gay and black, but not in her uniform?

christian mingle don't have a monopoly on online dating. there are many others that gays can use
There are other websites but what if you are Christian and Gay?

The point is that they are needlessly excluding people.

Could I open a restaurant with a no gays policy with the argument that there are other restaurants?

They weren't the centre of attention. They damaged their own credibility in what should have been a celebration of gay pride.

Especially because they were invited as special guests and took advantage of it.

Not to mention beyond demands that the police not be allowed to March, supply security or otherwise attend they actually had the audacity to demand jobs on the Pride organizing committee.

Just wait. They are going to learn the hard way about what their little stunt in going to reap.

They have it in Churches and Mosques now. So either we close down or demand they allow them in or leave it be.

I suppose the question is better asked as this. Is a straight site required to cater to gay people and if so does the reverse apply for an app like Grindr.

Personally I don't care but really it makes more sense to me for advertising purposes to have different sites based on orientation.

The Pride parade committee should have recognised trouble and particularly isolating themselves from police when the idea is to get as inclusive a possible - not divisive.

I don't think religious places should excluded people. Especially when I feel like people active in Christian churches are in decline.

I think with regards to the Christian dating site I think some people might feel that the primary goal is for Christians to meet. Sexuality is secondary. If you want just a straight or gay partner you are right plenty of sites and apps for that.

Actually, the BLM folks also made a scene at the Trans and dyke marches on Friday and Saturday. The Pride organizers did say they were not surprised.

I thought for a second about spraying the BLM marchers with my water gun but decided not to because they might kill me.
