On the highway of life
I made a taco omelette and sweet potato fries for Taco Tuesday. Tequila shots later while I'm making dinner.

The only Mexican celebration that more Canadians actually observe than Mexicans.

Interesting that Cinco de Mayo lands on Taco Tuesday but ruined by a Corona virus.

Cinco de Mayo is a bloody big deal in Mexico.

Mexican partisans overthrew French Dictator's Napoleon III, Mexican Empire regime under his puppet Emperor Maximilian I. The USA didn't really play any part as it was descending into Civil War.

I'm guessing that its more popular outside of Quebec than within.
Since its dedicated to the defeat of the French army in Mexico, its a treat for anglos to have a party and annoy the french all at the same time!
Since the Quebec government (and the Pure Laine and La Meute --Wolf Pack ) gets all snotty and "offended" when anyone wants to celebrate the Brit victory over the french at the Plains of Abraham.
Viva la revolucion!

Napoleon III wasn't very smart but he was very lucky. He peaked at the Battle of Solferino, but his luck ran out. The Italians resented giving up Nice for French support, so they aligned with Bismarck. It didn't end well for Nap.
