The obvious

You need a smoke room , you have lost a lot of revenue from the smokers , take a trip to miss. sc , the smoke rooms are full , with winter around the corner business will drop again . All the other feed back form prior threads have some great ideas . I have been a regular at the Strip for over 30 yrs and seen the glory days of past , it's time to act on some of the suggestions, snooze you'll lose..........

Smoke Rooms

I wouldn't bother with the expense of a smoke room. With the looming provinvial legislation, and the fact it will cover 'private' venues, it will put the clubs on an even footing again, and all being non-smoking. Many, many of the other suggestions have merit, but the biggest one is costs.... The working stiff does not have the funds at the levels to frequent the SCs like we used to. Anything that can be done in this area will help. Headliners can help for those days, but I don't think they have long term impact. A few dancers that can dance (not walking around the stage looking totally apathetic) and create some excitement and will provide a longer term lift.

Just a few thoughts....

Don't let enthropy destroy the club.... Do something, as doing nothing is a sure fire way to lose.

PantyChrist is on to something...

If you ignore everything else that was said here, at least do yourself one favour...

Go visit Wiskey a Go Go once... just once. It has to be one of my favourite places on earth. They charge a cover but there's always a great show. Any SC owner/operator could learn a thing or two from a visit to that place.

my thoughts on the matter

1. Girls should not spend more then 5 minutes at the table by the DJ, and it does not take a half hour to go to the bathroom - or "powder" their noses.
2. I am more likely to spend my hard earned $ on alcohol and girls that actually walk around, and are friendly.
3. Your waitresses are working for tips - they can act friendlier.
4. More liberal backroom.

These are all policies you as manager can and should control.

I agree with the previous posts about WAGG. Or take the trip to Niagara Falls to Seductions and Sundowner...this is your direct competition and it's only 1/2 hr away. I've done the drive many times even though I live 5 minutes away from the strip.

Just a few things to point out, 1- this is a Strip Club, not a brothel. If you're really hard up for a more "liberal" back room, then perhaps you should take the drive out to the falls. 2- If there are girls sitting at a table for over 5 min, it's usually because they have already walked around the bar asking customers if they are interested in a dance. How long would you expect them to walk around and be turned down before they sit, would you walk around for 2 hours not making any money? I've seen quite a few growing trends in the past few years, customers are getting cheaper, and are expecting far more from the (dancer) then what they are there to do, entertain via a strip tease. If the waitress isn't friendly, could be a few reasons. (bad day, cheap customers, rude customers) Start off with a really good tip, and I'm sure she'll be around more often. Waitresses usually cater to those who tip well.

There are a number of things that would be great to change, many of them pointed out in this board, but remember, the bar can only change so much, cost is a big factor, and in case some havn't clued in, it really isn't cheap running a strip club.

Long gone are the days of past.

I hate to say this but I REALLY disagree with your statement.

Here are the trends I see.
- Clubs importing EE "dancers" who really can't dance.
- Clubs charging larger covers while still raising drink prices and providing very little in the line of entertainment.
- The death of the 10 dollar table dance that was great if you had a few buddies who all pitched in... you could have it rolling for hours.
- Dancers who no longer even try to talk to customers unless they have already shelled out large dollars.
- Waitresses who have forgotten this is still a SERVICE industry. I will tip appropriately... but only if I recieve SERVICE.
- Clubs having that annoying attendant in the can (another money grab)
- A much greater number of dancers who use the club as a base for providing "extras". I personally feel there is no place for that in a SC. When (and i mean WHEN) one of them get busted it will put a mark on the whole industry.

Your points that customers are "cheaper" or that they demand more really reflect the directions the clubs themselves have taken. It's not about "entertainment" anymore. It's about bucks. I have gone to probably hundreds of clubs over the years from winnipeg to Hamilton to Dublin Ireland and even Sydney Australia... and over the last 10 yrs I've seen the trend move from great looking women putting on a great show, to average girls walking back and forth while 2 others ask "Vanna Dance??" Montreal is like the last bastion of hope... damn I miss it! haha

If the clubs want my dollar all I ask it to be entertained. If i want an SP I'll get one...

no cover at the strip

If you have been in recently on the weekend you would have seen a major improvement on the entertainment.

--That's due in part that there are not that many "home grown" girls willing to do this for a living. Canada has had a Stripper shortage for quite a few years now.

- Clubs charging larger covers while still raising drink prices and providing very
little in the line of entertainment.
--Many clubs do ... The Strip has no cover charge, drink prices go up everywhere, as for entertainment ... I'd agree.

- The death of the 10 dollar table dance that was great if you had a few buddies who all pitched in... you could have it rolling for hours.
--Go over toward the DJ booth, there are 2 horseshoe tables set up for $10 table dances

- Dancers who no longer even try to talk to customers unless they have already shelled out large dollars.
--Welcome to the Strip Club world.

- Waitresses who have forgotten this is still a SERVICE industry. I will tip appropriately... but only if I recieve SERVICE.
--Granted, but have an undestanding that they to have bad days just like everyone else. When I hear complaints from waitresses about how rude many of the customers are to them, I sometime don't blame them for the disgruntled attitudes.

- Clubs having that annoying attendant in the can (another money grab)
--The Strip got rid of the guy they had in the can long ago ... fyi. the bar dosn't pay them ... it's all for tips.

- A much greater number of dancers who use the club as a base for providing "extras". I personally feel there is no place for that in a SC. When (and i mean WHEN) one of them get busted it will put a mark on the whole industry.
--Amen

This is directed towards Arctic Wolf:

1. I do tip. $2.25 for a $5.75 beer. I expect a thank you for 30 seconds of work for my $8.
2. Fact of life that TO and Niagara Falls are the Strip's competition. The days of getting a thigh brushed against you and that's it are over. It isn't 1986 anymore.
3. I'm not expecting a brothel but if the Strip wants to thrive it needs to find an identity for itself like Cannonball in Mississauga, or the Manor in Guelph. It should be known as "the stag place", or the "cheap beers before hitting the bars place", or something.
4. It does depend on the guys too. Everyone looking bored creates a dead environment. Clap a little - but you should have a reason to clap to!
5. Regarding the Strip getting busted-I should think the Strip has shadier dealings going on in that establishment than the back room!
