The Hamilton(Ontario) Opera Company is world renowned and the acoustics at hamilton Place are superior to those of the Hummingbird.
With all due respect, Goober's basement has better acoustics than the Hummingbird Centre. That building was never designed as a venue for Opera. The fact that they do shows how in desperate need Toronto is for a proper Opera venue (another discussion).

The acoustics at Hamilton Place are handled through electronic manipulation of the speakers and not through the "natural" design of the building. This is the more expensive route to take when undergoing the design of theatre spaces but it allows the designer to free himself from using the standard shapes.

I’m not dumping on Hamilton but I just want to point out that the acoustics at Hamilton Place are no better than most modern theatres of its size and configuration.

I really haven't found any difference between people in Hamilton or Toronto. And although the polution in Hamilton might be bad in the north end (steel mill area), try looking out of the office towers in Toronto on a clear day - thick brown haze sitting over the city.

Both places have their merits. Toronto is faster paced with more activities at your finger tips, but the rents are ridiculous and the traffic is always bad. Hamilton is more affordable and more relaxed, but there aren't as many opportunities for aimless wandering and window shopping, and public transit is a challenge for simple things like getting to a movie theatre since most of the older ones have been closed down.

I do agree though, I'll be a Ti-cats fan forever - eat 'em raw.

Hamilton is Home to The Royal Botanical gardens, on of the largest public gardens in North America

That would be in Burlington not Hamilton.
Umm, the botanical gardens are all over the place, mainly in Hamilton. Beside Dundurn Castle, along York Blvd and on Plains road (which is Aldershot i believe)

Ok, ok, now it's borington.

for the record- I don't know anyone who feels a desperate need for an Opera hall
Ummm, it is already under constuction on University Avenue.

I think it's going to be called the Four Season Opera Hall or something stupid like that.

How do I put this

This is REALLY a compliment.

I prefer women slightly on the sleazy side... that is why my my eyes have a feast every time in Hamilton. Even if a leopard skin halter doesn't go together with the tight pink pants, so what - I love it.

I went to a Ti-cats game after about forty since my last visit to Ivor Wynn (Winn) (Win) stadium. Still experienced the same problems. There is not enough parking close to the staduim and I'm sure that the same dirty cups were still on the floor after all that time.
But............................ the fans were great. We had a great time. Being Renegade fans and wearing our red white and black, we had lots of friendly verbal abust and scorn heaped upon us. It was great fun just like in the old days of Bernie Falony and Russ Jackson (who was from Hamilton by the way)

Just my own $0.02

For the ones that have never lived in or near Hamilton, can yes be arrogant. Not all, however, a great amount. Then again, I can think of many Hamiltonian or Burlington residents of whom have their noses high in the air...and not from trying to avoid the polution either!
When i was growing up in Hamilton, especially in my later teens and early 20's the arrogance coming out of Burlington was unreal. Especially the chicks my age. "We live in Burlington, (sniff, look of superiority, sniff)

It makes me laugh when i see it now because Burlington is a burb situated beside a burb (Oakville), that is beside another burb (Mississauga). The entire Burlington burb lifestyle is that of Minivan clogged subdivisions built around power centers. Hamilton at least has some character, some feel to it. Burlington has traffic control medians and speedway streets (the 3 lines - Guelph, Walkers, and Appleby). There is no real "inner city" Burlington unless you consider around Brant street close to the lake.

Burlington attitude? Please spare me.
