I was looking at some spa websites in Hamilton and comparing the spas to the spas in Toronto

What a HUGE difference ! Toronto spas websites are a lot better the spas look better and it seems they all have amazing looking attendants their websites always updated.. More girls to choose from during shifts

Here are some examples

Hamilton spas

Toronto spas

http://www.torontoplatinumspa.com/attendants.html

I think Hamilton spas should take a lesson from Toronto on what a website and a spa should be

Compared to Toronto spas Hamilton spas are behind by about 10 or more years

At least King Sherman schedule has been keeping its sched up to date recently.

Usually I'm just passing thru Hamilton. Knowing who is working helps me decide whether to stop over or just keep on going along the QEW. Not enough pics on the site though.

If the patrons of Hamilton visited the MPs that kept up their websites, then it might happen.
I'm not just talking about updating their websites. The spas themselves

99% of the spas in Hamilton all look the same. The rooms are more or less are the same they have a shower a few mirrors a few fake plants. And spas lobbies are the same a front desk a couch or chair a picture or two fake plants

And then in Toronto you find very impressive theme rooms. And very well designed spas

Even our top spas in Hamilton if moved to Toronto would not rank

I just think it is odd with the so many spas we have in Hamilton. Non of them can be compared to the spas in Toronto.
Hamilton spas are all the same only difference are the names.

And before someone tells me to open a spa in Hamilton because of my comments. Anyone that would is foolish to without a license Example look how long the newest one lasted 4 VIP spa lasted maybe a month

True, there are some high spas in the GTA that don't compare to anything in Hamilton. But they also don't compare to the majority of spas in Toronto.

I live in the Etobicoke, with a population comparable to hamilton. there are dozens of spas in the area. Most are tiny Asian, EE places.

Even a popular spa in the area Lexa Studio, has a common shower, small basic rooms, no website whatsoever.

In the GTA there's just a wider variety from high-end to low, and everything in-between.

burt-oh-my!

Maybe not spending tens of thousands of dollars on rennovations that they wouldn't get back from extra business is a good business decision, who knows?

If that were one's business mentality, we wouldn't have any nice spas, even in Toronto. Some spa owners have more vision than others.

For a lot of guys, a clean and comfortable place is important. Kinda like the "hygiene" of a spa if you will.

Hey guys, let's face reality here.

As pointed out earlier, no one with an ounce of business sense is going to open a new spa in Hamilton due to the current bylaw/licensing situation.

As for the existing spas doing any kind of renovation, why would they? How many customers do you need to bring in at $40 each to get a worthwile return on investment? There just isn't a compelling business reason, and lots of anecdotal evidence which would tend to disincline owners to make any changes.

I like a nice place as well, but the spas that will do well are those that have the best attendants (looks, attitude and mileage.)

What's wrong with fake plants?

Just kidding...I agree completely on the standard of the spas in hamilton, but my friend it's socio-economics, and capitalism at it's best, showing you the varrying degrees of options life has to offer.

To Hamilton, how many hobbying men do you think make six figure income....compare that to Toronto and there you go.

my 2.5 cents

Well you would think that Hamilton could support one upscale spa with a license. Since there are only 3 licensed places in Hamilton, I know if I held the license, the place would be more upscale.

I do see your point about the hobbyists and their income. I guess I'm just more willing than some to make the drive most of the time to Toronto.

Maybe these 3 spas believe in if it's not broken why fix it

Tipping alone ranges from $100 to $240 depending on what spa you go to in Hamilton. Plus the door fees & there are guys that are paying it in Hamilton

So I don't think it is a income problem in Hamilton remember this theory "if their horny enough they will pay it" . It works in every city.

I don't like getting all hyped up looking at a TO spa site just to arrive and find out that the girl looks nothing like the pics cause of all the air brushing done. At least Hammer sites are real pics.

Kind of like a Wendy's commercial. Nice looking juicy bacon burger on TV, but when I get there it's all flat and soggy looking.

My 2 pennies worth.

If you believe in "if it ain't broke , don't fix it" you lack vision. I'm not saying they don't make good money. I'm saying they could be making more money.
If I invest 10 k in improvements, I may get a return of 20 k within a year.
