hottmale was the one who assured me that he had firmed up the deal with Boomer's for the Halloween party. He has told me for awhile now that this was a done deal. So I'll be trying to get a hold of management to confirm yea or nae.

Well the question remains the bar does not close to the public and saying that its closed to the public contradicts what the bar said.
Who did you talk to at the bar? Was it a waitress (which is usually the case when phoning a bar)? If the owner took the booking (as has been stated), he wouldn't necessarily share that with the staff this far in advance (most independent business owners are the same in that regard). And even if you talked to the owner, would he necessarily share any of that with a complete stranger who is phoning in? I'd certainly hope not.

I don't see what the problem is.....if they were to deny there was a party with less than a month to go, *then* I might worry. Regardless, there is still plenty of time to find another venue if it does turn out Boomer's isn't the place for it.

I wonder when Diva will start bashing Sheik for the paranoia and conspiracy theories.

Sheik's dillgence and professionalism helps maintain the legitmacy of the board. Somebody has to be omnipotent and define the boundries, never an easy task but espically not in this Hobby. Thanks Sheik, you can never please all the people all the time. Just my 2cents, Dabbler

where is boomers...when asking around i am being told it is in a rather rough part of town. Is this the case? I'm also being told that's it's really not the kind of place someone like me is likely to end up partying, so if Sheik is being told that it is not closed to the public, i'm a mite nervous....at the very least.

Personally, I'm finding this behind-the-scenes sniping really annoying. From the start there seems to be a lot of snide remarks from the Sept 9th party crowd or their supporters.

If someone has a problem with this party (ie location, date, how it's run) or with the fact that I'm helping in organizing it and they have a problem with me, then tell me what exactly the problem is and we'll deal with it! If people don't like me, I walk away from the damn thing. If you are worried about someone showing up and causing problems there is security there (the white shirts squad, I think) to deal with it. If the Sept 9 organizers are upset with me then tell me! Afterall there is more than a month difference in party dates I don't see how one can interfere with the other. This is a party damn it not a bloody revolution.

People can either post concerns here or PM me but if I don't hear anything and still get sniping about silly things then I'll walk away from it and let hottmale run with it. In the immortal words of Stan Lee "'Nuff Said!"

Why would they Voice there concerns to you
You have nothing to do with the running of the Halloween Party
This not very uncommon, since many lurkers want to stay that way and not ask directly when there is someone who already has some presense on TERB can ask instead. I get such requests to act as advocate for questions all the time. Don't take it personally that someone doesn't ask you directly, just respect that some people feel more comfortable using a run-between.

Think what you want Say what you want.
There is nothing wrong with the area where Boomers is
I dunno.....I think she has a point. You forget that guys see things differently than girls. There are quite a few unsavoury characters who hang around in doorways along that stretch of Kenilworth and while that would cause no concern for most guys, it *is* a concern for most girls who are naturally more vulnerable. That being said, the area is very well-lit and there is always traffic going by so I don't think there is much chance of a problem (I think you'd be less safe along King St literally one block away from a police station). But you have to admit that the perception is valid.

I've made the necessary changes to make sure I'm able to make this one. I will not be going in costume. However, any ladies that are not comfortable in going can PM me and make arrangements to come with me in my van. Anyone who knows me on here can vouch you'll be safe with me.

First off, I would gladly vouch for Thundergod.

Trelew, I have no beef with you, as i have told you before, i am just passing on what has been brought up to me....

Hottmale, I have no use for people who don't have the balls to stick to 1 username, i didn't like you when you were on here before and i still have little use for you as hottmale.
I LIVED in the area for a few years, and have family that still do and yes i still will say it's a rough area. If this hurts your poor little feelings, because perhaps this is your neighbourhood, well, I have only one thing to say...it sucks to be you

Glad you all having a party....but it will be open to the general public. The place this is being held has told me that they will allow anyone in.

You can have a doorman to great everyone...but you won't be able to keep anyone out as per-management!!! Anyone showing up will be welcomed.

Not trying to stir the pot...just stating facts.

So my question is,
How does this party differ from a security point of view over the party I was planning for Sept 9th?

There seems to be mixed thoughts as wether or not the Halloween party is closed to the public,, either case does not restrict LE or By Law, or any other agency entry for inspection, in fact, a Public bar that is closed to the public may be more of a red light to these agencies!

With all this fretting going on without actually stating what is annoying you is really grating on my nerves. Kind makes me wondered if you guys want a party. So I say again, if you have a concern with the Halloween party, please state it here or PM me and we'll hash it out.

a gang bang would be far easier to set up...

Trelew, if you are interested, I have a drawer full of mardi gras beads from previous parties, you are more than welcome to have them for this one...

Personally I would love the old Halloween standards. Frankenstein by Winters, Monster Mash, and anything Rocky Horror.

Which Boomers are you talking about? There is one on Kenilworth and on the moutain. I know the one on kenilworth very well, just check to see if there Dj system is working properly, I know it has been broken from time to time, But it is a good place for a party.
