Hamas has already laid the grounds for a 10 year truce.
End the blockade, open the borders, let out some of the arbitrarily imprisoned.

Basic human rights will get you 10 years of peace.
Too bad that's more then Israel wants to give them.

Considering Hamas fired rockets less than an hour into one of its truces, I doubt it would last 5 years.

And beyond that, what incentive is there for Israel to allow all of Hamas' demands without getting anything in return except a promise of more attacks with even better weaponry?

Its true, elections haven't been held since Israel put Gaza on blockade.
But elections worry Netanyahu, its one of the major contributing factors to his attack this time.
He was worried about Hamas and Fatah mending fences and calling an election.
