I try to remember to take a multivitamin every day, but lately I bought a bottle of "1 a day" gummy vitamins to avoid the complicated task of pouring a glass of water.
Every time I take a gummy vitamin I feel like im being suckered into believing this is something more than just a piece of candy. Never again, im sticking with the stuff that makes my urine have a radioactive glow to it.

because gummy vitamins need to taste good they can often contain too much sugar and not enough nutrients.
.......but sugar can actually deplete your body of the very nutrients you're trying to give it, particularly B vitamins.

perhaps gummy vitamins rely on the placebo effect and we are supposed to believe the sugar rush is actually nutrients making us feel energized.

Gummies (and chewables in general) are better for you than pills you swallow
Different pills are made of different shells but they do not all absorb same way in every persons body

Having said that, vitamins are a total waste of money in general
If you are eating poorly enough to not get enough vitamins you will still end up sick regardless of what supplement you consume

Don't waste the $10 on a bottle
Invest in a blender or food processor

I agree somewhat. I think if you are eating well, you really shouldn't need to take vitamins every day. However, I do take a vitamin D supplement from October through April because of the lack of sun. I also take a calcium supplement (as well as eating dairy and broccoli) because I am teeny-tiny boned.

I used to take fish oil supplements but now I just try to eat salmon at least twice a week as well as walnuts and avocados to get my omega-3s.

As a side note, the seven Gummi Bears are named Gruffi, Cubbi, Tummi, Zummi, Sunni, Gusto,
and Grammi.

The other issue is if you have small children in the house. They will eat them like candy so be careful.

I had no idea that they had names and these are for adults?

A very good point to keep in mind. These should be treated like any medication and kept out of reach of children.

This is true, except that most people don't eat right, so a daily vitamin is an important part of your daily regimen.

The problem with some of these multivitamins, gummy or otherwise, is the amount of vitamins that get absorbed into your system varies greatly from one brand to another.

A friend who's a nutritionist showed me an independent report from a lab who tested hundreds of different of vitamins. It listed which vitamins had the best absorption as a percentage by brand. I remember Douglas Laboratories had some of the highest percentages and One-A-Day was by far one of the lowest. He said Douglas Labs doesn't heat compress their supplements which reduces the amount you absorb.

It's just a hunch, but I suspect the gummy vitamins offer little to no benefit.

If you're going to take anything, vitamin D drops in the winter months and calcium (with magnesium) year-round is not a bad idea.

that is something that I was also thinking, the lids have no child proof locks. A kid opens these and they will be gone, gummies taste like the real thing. But I haven't heard of any child dying or becoming severely ill from gummy overdose, that is also why I feel like im being duped with real candy.

That's exactly the point
Some people have dietary issues where a supplement is just that; it adds extra whatever to your diet
Or maybe even someone lactose intolerant might need something like calcium since they can't consume enough properly

But there are many idiots out there who eat at McDs daily then seem to think consuming multivitamins + protein shakes makes them healthy

Actually speaking of protein, there are way too many nobs buying huge powder supplements to work out
Most of it is just going right through their body on way to the toilet

I recall a news story a few years ago about a young child eating a lot of Flinstone's vitamins. Overdosed on iron I believe but fortunately survived.

You actually can overdose on anything (and young kids are more susceptible to it)
Even water (google hyponatremia)
Body is all about balance
