I should also add the following I guess, jsut to be fair.
For actual six string guitars, I do like the Gibsons more than the Fenders.
Like the solid feel and weight. The design is nicer as well.
Ricks are cool, like the Gretsch too.
But since no one has mentioned arch tops I will.
Hofners are beautiful.
Gibsons and hi end Epiphones as well.
And of course Benettos!
So I guess the next poll is who playes bass/guitar?

My bad! Got Walshburn confused with Wal basses!
The wine is good tonight by the way!
Wals seem pretty nice. And by the way J. Chancellor from Tool plays them, they sound amazing!!
And what about Carle Thompsons!
Les Claypool knows how to squeeze the most out of those!
They can look alittle ugly to my eyes, but the sound is there!!

Gibson!

Paul Jr (original double-cutaway), L4, cheapo but cool workhorse L48. All 1950s. Love to get an ES-150 from that era (or earlier).

But a lot of great ones can be found under "Other" too of course.

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
Ibanez.

I see alot of junk copies with shitty names in places like Cash Converters, Buy-and-Sell City.

to rock out, nothing beats those humbucking Les Pauls... I don't mind the fat neck 'cause I got long fingers. playing a les paul clean is usually kinda boring, though...

but, with minimum effects I love the single coil strat turned way up.

most 'shredders' though like the much thinner necks like on Ibanez, Jacksons, Washburns and Carvin type axes.

Gibson's are my atf, though!

Gretsch for mostly alternative and some mainstream rock fans
Not starting a flame war here nor do I hate Gretsch's but....

AC/DC - Sure, Malcolm but who pays any attention to him?

Soundgarden - Kim used SG's, Chris used Gretsch but you can't even hear him in the mix

Hole - are you kidding? These people can barely play their instruments let alone write a good song.

The Who - Pete used everything from Fender to Rick's. Back in the day, it was all Gibson's though. SG's and ES355's.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The only guitarist that ever matters with these guys is John and he's a Fender Strat guy.

Foo Fighters - Dave uses Gibson mainly now - explorers and a DG-335

The Stray Cats - Ok...yes, exclusively Gretsch's here.

Depeche Mode - I have no idea. Never thought of these guys as guitar guys.

The White Stripes - uses everything, airliner's and gretsch's.

i forget the guitar the Girl from Heart used alot...wasn't BC Rick ...think Dime bag Darel used them too

She used B.C. Rich

Dimebag used both Dean and Washburn.. however the most famous axe he played was the Dean from Hell. There is quite a long story about that particular guitar... look it up, it's worth a read.

I'd like to get my hands on a Gibson Silverburst Les Paul custom (made in the late seventies and early eighties). People complained that the metal flaking in the paint changed the way it sounded. I've played with one briefly, and I loved it.

was the Les paul JR with its flaws as well...or was it a SG? ...the one with the Neck Glued into the body... some shit copys had lacquer/polyster cracking/checking...had to let them climatize in the case or something....sid note...i miss the feel of a good Classical Guitar..a la Robby Krieger

Robby Krieger solo n' Spanish Caravan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWcO9_R2CcI&feature=related

only appreciated SG gibsons because Krieger played them... Never like Angus of AC/DC
