I think this only gets to within 50 yards.. Only way they can get you is if you leave it on and they triangulate your location. .

You're making me feel like a bad ass. :rofl:Yup, hobbyests, drug dealers and hitmen; we're one of them in terms of buying burner phones with cash.
I never thought of that. It makes perfect sense, and will, as in issue, grow exponentially as more of us by burners. Perhaps their main concern is goofs booking them for fun and then no showing. A number is not a perfect guard against this, but it is something.A burner phone is completely untraceable. Only way they can get you is if you leave it on and they triangulate your location. That's why I always laugh at the ads that say 'no blocked numbers' - if they think seeing a number makes them any safer they are fooling themselves.
It's not a perfect guard. But it makes finding you a little less obvious. With a bit a work anyone can probably trace you. Question is how much work is someone willing to put in versus the trade off. Unless of course you take EVERY precaution in the book such as calling from a location not close to your home etc. But that is just annoying level of paranoid.I never thought of that. What do you mean by 'No Phone'? You mean, you get a compatible SIM card to insert into your own smartphone of any model? No phone was 149..and then got 25 worth of mins.
The phone for 100 looked like it was from the 1980s
I meant " No the phone was 149 versus 100 as stated"What do you mean by 'No Phone'? You mean, you get a compatible SIM card to insert into your own smartphone of any model?
Cheapest model there was for $80 bucks or so. So not that much a difference. But I got the one for $149 since I don't have an android phone. And thought it might come in handy also having an android phone down the road for other things.Bought an unlocked $49 phone and $29 sim card from G3 wireless, used through out Europe for pennies per minute, to and from home.
Not much of a phone, but does what I need it for.
FAST
You guys got ripped off.
If you spend $100 on top up you can get Alcatel 871A for $29.95 and an additional $25 dollar credit.
With taxes I spent $147 total and got a new phone and included $125 of calling credit.

At least with a burner phone and some basic precautions like not calling your own phone or any friends or family, you are not a low hanging fruit for LE.
Or a phone locked to Rogers. You can just get the sim card for $10 and use it with any old unlocked phone.

Moreso keeping you off a "target" list if their Agencies records get acquired. Ie. if you used your real phone and have your real name on your voicemail that could just stand for trouble. Particularly if you have a reputation to maintain and don't need your activities to be public knowledge.I would think that tracing a phone doesn't prove anything. So that phone in your possession called an agency so what ? I would think that they are going to bust people in the act, catching the "JOHN" with his pants down pun intended and finding the hobby phone and cash in the wallet. And if that happens, you are fucked no matter what phone you have ?
