I used to use one called "The Best Card" and literally it was.
You wouldn't get scammed out of your minutes and would only be charged when you actually talked after the connection was made.
Anyone know of any good ones out there?
If you have access to a computer and the Internet rather use Skype. Their feature Skype Out provides access to regular phone lines which negates the need for calling cards. Skype by default has free skype to skype PC calls and sometime may have skype in numbers available in Canada to receive calls from regular phones as if you have a phone line, on your PC.
With Skype Out unlimited North American calling is about 30 bucks a year and Europe and other major countries about 2c/min if memory serves me correctly. Its all on their website.
I stopped using calling cards about 3yrs ago and swear by Skype. Its cheaper , better and easier. The only minus is you need a PC and Internet connection bit it now supports wifi phones. It does also throw out odd caller ID's so people won't know who the hell is calling when you call sometimes but hey it works.
As soon as we have the same types of plans as the US for long distance (e.g. Cingular Unlimited) I would say whats left of the calling card industry will be toast.
