What's the general consensus on Project Hail Mary? Is it good enough to actually go watch at the theatre or is it better to just wait?
It's 8.5 in IMDB. That's a very high rating
I've been dreading the comedy part ever since they released the trailer. I read the book which is amazing btw but pure drama. They should have left it alone a la Interstellar and not try to inject humour in it. I'm going to post an updated take after I watch the movie but like I said, as a huge Sci-fi fan (I average one book a week), I am apprehensive about the end result.
An update to my earlier post. I saw PHM in the theater last week. I was absolutely spot on with the earlier comments. In my view they ruined the movie with all the comedic bits. The overall vibe of the movie is completely wrong. The book is about a civilization ending event: end of humanity and other alien cultures. The main protagonist is acting like a goof throughout the entire movie. Given the stakes it makes zero sense, and it is NOT accurate to the tone of the book. The science parts from the book are also heavily under-represented. I can understand and put up with this given it's intended for all audiences. But I cannot forgive the change in tone from the book, it is jarring and dissonant with the script.

My final rating: a 7 at best, because it was entertaining and filmed well. But if you are into SciFi with a reasonable understanding of typical hard SF concepts and science, the book is a 10.

The Martian is also originally a book and the movie is more true to the tone of the book and the science.

Christopher Nolan is getting his feet to fire over his new film The Odyssey.

I don't believe that he's completely lost his mind by casting Elliot Page as Achilles. As Ellen Page she was awesome in Inception (imho Nolan's best film), why would he toss Elliot Page into the wood chipper. Then why would he also cast Ryan Hurst, if not to play Achilles. He's a 6' 6" behemoth who's appeared in Sons of Anarchy and Bosch.

He's also playing Kratos in the upcoming God of War.

Definitely some questionable casting choices for The Odyssey, but I'm still kind of excited to watch it, not all that often we get epic's anymore

Sebastian Stan can put The Winter Soldier behind him, no more Marvel silliness.

Fjord won the Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He's paired up with red-hot Renate Reinsve, who's Norway's Emma Stone - meaning she only makes masterpieces.

The Latest Star Wars cash grab isn't getting good reviews.

If you've never seen Renate Reinsve, this is the film to start with. The big question, can she transition from Oslo to Hollywood and does she want to?

I'm assuming everyone would refuse a super toke from Renate Reinsve.

I'm interested in watching Super Girl. I really enjoyed the new Superman movie so I'm a little excited for more of that. June can't come soon enough

I have high hopes for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The Critical Borrachione, misogynist that he is, wants to sabotage it.

He should do another vodka shot and shuddup shuttin up. Jason Mamoa was born to play Lobo, Matthias Schoenaerts looks super heavy!

There's no comparison between Supergirl and Snow White. Matthias Schoenearts has more talent in his hangnail than Gal Gadot has in her entire body.

Love this film!

Johnny Depp's comeback film comes out in the fall called Day Drinker.

I hope he's learned his lesson, he shouldn't turn into a besotted blubbering mass of goo over Madelyn Cline.

Amanda Seyfried never mails it in.

AS lives on a farm in Pennsylvania, I wonder what they grow there.

The follow up to The Social Network with Jeremy Strong (Succession) playing Zucco. Mikey Madison returns which makes the film a must watch.
