Dare I say it.... we are just weeks away from training camp.

The Leafs are an embarrassment... but Toronto is the hockey centre of the world....and if they every put it together...this town would go absof-kn nuts.

There are still a lot of loyal diehards.

I for one am extremely diappointed that the current coach/GM combo think that they are bigger than the long history of the team and choose to not name a captain. The Leafs are an original six ..heck top 2 franchise in the world of hockey..... we may not have a talent that they think meets the standards of previous captains.... but you dont make this team equal to a southern US hick town franchise where no body cares about it. Name a captain and it should be someone born and raised in Ontario. There HAS to be someone wearing the C, do NOT allow this team to continue to lose touch with the great past by making dumb f--k decisions because of big head dildo equivalent brains allowed to make these decisions.

If you give the the "C" to someone just for the sake of giving someone the "C" , then you are truly are belittling the history of the Leafs.

One someone steps forward, and shows they are capabably of handling the "C" then and only then do you give it to him.

Oh God not this Leaf nonsense already :(
I've actually seen some decent posts of yours on some topics, but really, your posts on Leaf threads are tedious at best and more realistically useless.

We all know how you feel already, so unless you have something new to add, why you don't you just give it a rest.

I'm not trying to bash you, I'm just trying to be honestly realistic. And just so you know, I also believe the Leafs are a joke but let the people that want to discuss them do so without your incessant repetitive drivel.

There are still some free agents on forward available. If the Leafs do not pick up at least a couple, their offense will stink.

Shack is right summer is always optimism time and of coarse why start booing when they haven't actually dropped the puck ... I like what they have done on " D " and goal but then I ask myself where is the offense going to come from ... Funny but no matter what moves a GM does good or bad if Toskola and the monster don't play great then it will be hard to judge any of the GM's moves ....

I understand your point about the offence but i thought the same thing last year and they finished 10th in the league in goals. It's giving them up that is their problem.

All the leaf need to do is give 110% this season......no not 110% but 111% 112%!

That's all they have to do and theyll win the cup.

another bad year??

despite the excitement of all the d men the leafs received sure theres a lot of toughness but Kaberle is still the quickest of this bunch,,,they will either put up a stone wall or set up a pylon course in the leafs zone,,,could see a lot of blowouts this yr i suspect,,,,still no punch up front,,minus Antropov so whats the holdup,,can we not get Kessel???,,,,Marleau???I like Grabovskie but hes no kovalchuk ,,,Ottawa picked up a steal in Kovalev why cant the leafs do the same??,,,have cap room....their plan for Nash in 20101 is now a bust,,,

That's 18092 years from now.
I'm sure Rick Nash won't be that good then, anyway. :D

Mother told me to never accept salmon from a man... halibut yes (always accept halibut, she told me), but never salmon.

If I accept your bet, then I will be rooting against the Leafs, which I do not want to do. I am often critical of them, but that's because I view myself as a fan, but am proud to say I want no part of "Leafs Nation", whatever that is.

I don't believe the Buds are better than any of the eight Eastern Conference playoff teams of last year, but there is always some surprise/disappointment.

I will begrudgingly accept your wager, but you can keep the salmon.
I will keep the salmon, just for the halibut!

mighty Leafs Nation
Burke is a genious - he's setting the Leafs up for a run at Kovelchuck next season. As the Buds are a lock for a playoff spot this season, Cup contenders in a few years is realistic as youngsters like Schen will mature and get even better

How does not naming a captain make the coach/gm think they are bigger than the history of the team? You name a player on the roster now a captain that will look real good on the list of captains won't it? Hmmm names like Sittler, Vaive, Ramage, Clark, Gilmour, Sundin.....then, well since you want someone born and raised in Ontario let's go with Matt Stajan! Or perhaps Mike Van Ryn, Wayne Primeau or Jamal Mayers since you seem to think the captain should be from Ontario. Naming anyone on this roster captain right now would taint our history. Schenn is a future captain so you'll just have to wait. Too bad he's from Saskatchewan though, that might irk you a bit.

Also, we're nowhere near being a southern US team which no one cares about. It's the Leafs, they'll always have fans, just as you said, there are loyal diehard fans so I don't see how you think the Leafs are going to ever become irrelevant in Toronto.

It doesnt cost them a penny(not that they care bout that) to name a Captain... but whoever they name..because of the C and the history will raise their game...what percent..who knows..but that raising of one persons game will make the team just a little better and probably rub off on the rest to do the same... by not naming a captain the message to the team is - none of you are leaders... that negativity grows through the season -
I think Wilson and Burke are numbnuts for not naming a captain.
Because other teams have not named captains this portrays that management is satisfied with mediocrity.... one fan's opinion.
Happy to read others..

Here's mine.

Seeing as there's obviously no clear cut choice, if they choose someone that some of the players think is unworthy, might it not decrease team morale? They would be more insulted by being considered less of a team leader than the guy they picked who, right now, looks like it would be nobody special rather than if they picked no one at all until they have a clear cut consensus choice.
