If you watched SNL you'd vote for Turd Ferguson.

.
SNL, do they still flog half funny jokes to death.

My error it's Federal PCs that want to shut the hobby,
To quote dancerfan.

"When did they ever say or put in their platform that they wanted to shut down the hobby? "

Don't get me wrong, I am sure the lunatic christians would love to shut down the hobby as much as the lunatic feminazi's of the NDP and the killjoys of the liberals. That is a bit different from having a party policy on the subject.

The Sun newspapers however do speak out of the subject quite often, and it is ironic considering how little they mind taking ads from the sex industry.

How can you possibly endorse a leader who has continuously lied about raising taxes, took Ontario from a have to a have not province, wants to bring in a green economy at an enormous expense to the taxpayer and has bloated gov't to the point that the annual sunshine list (those gov't workers who make over $100K) has tripled under the 8 years he's been in office. Fuckin pathetic.
Read the Globe article. It outlines quite clearly their reasons for choosing McGuinty over Hudak. If you're looking at the same info about McGuinty's record and campaign promises that the editorial staff at the Globe was using, you're obviously looking at it quite differently. Either that or you're using a very different set of "facts" that the Globe didn't have access to. Either way, I find their rationale more probable and convincing than yours.

First of all, there is no federal PC's, and on top of that, where is it in their platform that they want to shut down the hobby?

You cant compare the far right radicals in the southern US to Conservatives in Canada, about the only they share is the name!

As fat one says "Don't get me wrong, I am sure the lunatic christians would love to shut down the hobby as much as the lunatic feminazi's of the NDP and the killjoys of the liberals. That is a bit different from having a party policy on the subject."

And tell me, what exactly do you think is "liberal" about the Liberals? Under them we 've seen nothing but broken promises, higher and higher taxes, out and out lies and an Premier who likes to be known as Premier Dad who knows whats best for us, and who has instigated sweeping bans on top of sweeping bans, hardly what i'd call "liberal"!

I like politicians and a party that keeps out of our lives as much as possible!

I got this from the comments section on the Stars endorsement of the Liberals. couldnt have said it better!

It's all about party loyality. None of promises are worth the paper they're written on (that goes for ALL parties!)If you took Hudak's book of promises and issued it under the Liberal banner, you'd probably find most Liberal voters in support of it. BUT... because it's a Conservative promise they automatically think it's evil. Right now I'm not impressed by any of the parties. Hudak complained enough about the HST when it was first introduced but didn't promise to scrap it if elected. But then you have McGuinty who increased the cost of everything with his HST, Eco fees, health tax. Then there's the screwups with E-health, paying the United States to take our hydro, smart meters, car insurance and a whole list of other things. Does your employer reward you with another contract if you screw up?. Then I ask the question does McGuinty deserve to be rewarded with a 3rd term?.

The only trouble with that comment is that it ignores the fact that this is a provincial election we're talking about. So this hypothetical employer only gets to choose between Horvath, Hudak and McGuinty. Yes, all 3 candidates suck (more or less) but Mr Employer doesn't get to postpone the selection process until some better resumes show up. There are lots of catchy comments out there but most of them fall apart when you look under the hood. This is a perfect example.

Maybe if the employer had a history of expecting more when hiring people, better talent would apply.

More Liberal spin bullshit.

It's not about the name of the tax. It's about what Dalton McGuinty applied the tax to when he made the change.

The Ontario Progressive Conservatives have promised to remove the Provincial portion of the HST from home heating bills, which represent the single largest tax-grab by McGuinty under the HST, averaging about $250 per household every year.

Just a few years ago, my entire home heating bill for the year was $500. Now, it's gone up so much that the TAX INCREASE under McGuinty represents half that amount.

Are you talking about the political world or the real world? If you're talking politics, I've been expecting better since Peterson became our premier. So why
haven't those expectations made the slightest difference? There have been a couple of pleasant exceptions but, generally speaking, the quality of our leaders
has gone to hell in the last couple of decades.

Executive salaries have been rising like crazy but the pay scales for PMs, Premiers, MPs and MPPs are rather modest by comparison. So maybe if we paid
these pols a bit more, we'd get some of those proven and talented captains of industry / commerce to apply. At least it's more likely to bring results than
just wishing for it to happen.

Selection by committee. Most people would rather select people who pander to them, be optimistic rather than realistic and throw money at their special interests even if they are not what would be best for the province/country. Toss in general ignorance and the willingness to punish any act of courage when they do the right thing [like the HST] and we get what we get.

I make the same error of slagging the politicians but the problem really lies with the voters. You can get Chuck Norris to run and the result will be the same. Well maybe not Chuck, but mortal person regardless of ability.

WTF the word B*r*a*v*e*r*y is censored. Nice.

Hey don't misunderstand me, I'd like nothing more than to see McDickhead and his ilk kicked to the curb, I cant believe people buy into the Liberal spin bullshit so much that if the latest polls are correct, McJerkoff now is poised for another majority! Hold on to your wallets if that happens!

A majority? Latest I saw was that it was too close to call.

Captains of Industry like Mulroney?
I'd forgotten all about Mulroney's background with Iron Ore but he was a VP there so I suppose that qualifies him as a former captain of industry. Whenever I think of Mulroney, I think of him accepting bags of cash in hotel rooms and then not declaring it for years. Then my blood pressure goes up so don't get me started on that oily little fuck.

The person who most often comes to mind when I think of politicians who've proven themselves outside of the political arena is Paul Martin. He successfully ran Canada Steamship Lines and later became one of our most successful finance ministers. He may have defeated our deficit the hard way and possibly the imperfect way but he at least made that commitment and got it done. Obviously we could use a few more with his ability but I don't see people like that anymore.

So are we paying these guys enough lately to attract someone like a Paul Martin who could just as easily make the big bucks running something like CSL?
