Girl Guides will change the name of the Brownies

I heard an interview on Toronto radio this morning with a woman whom I believe was the head of Girl Guides Canada. She was explaining the reason for the name change of the Brownies. She claimed it was to make girls of color feel more welcomed and not racialized.

Looking at the UK Girl Guides website (where The Girl Guides originated) I think their own attempt at inclusiveness brought about the name change- especially the cringe picture of the white girl raising the arm of the brown girl. Until then I don't think it was never a problem.

Instead of changing the name why don't they explain the root of the name. As it relate to the fairy "Brownie"
I understand some of the name changes as they make sense but was this even an issue.
The issue with both the Guide program and the Scouts is that they have lost their purpose.
They also struggle to get leaders and have a quality program.
