Getting around Toronto

I have an upcoming trip to Toronto and will be staying at a major downtown hotel.
How easy is it to get round downtown Toronto without a car?
Majority of the time will be spent attending meetings, but I'd like to venture out and visit some of the spas, agencies, clubs, and restaurants.
I've been studying the subway map. Some of the "points of interests" are a good mile away from subway stations. And, we Americans don't walk much :)
Will there be Taxi's at subway stations that are willing to go less than a mile or so from the subway station? How about getting back to the subway station?
How is parking around Downtown area and some of the "points of interests" if I decide to rent a car? Parking overnight at the hotel is not a major problem, but a car would be useless if I can't find parking at the destinations. I'd love to visit some of the well known spas.
Thank you
Download Uber now hahah

There are cabs by most subway stations.. But don't ignore our bus system. If there's a "point of interest" then there's likely a bus running by it.

If you're dead set on a cab, then I use what used to be Kingsboro taxi (I think it's CityTaxi now). 416 232 2222.. Unless there's some major event going on, you can count on being picked up within 5 to 15 minutes. Beck Taxi is okay too.

A mile should take an average adult no more than twenty minutes walk; if that much sustained effort is too much, your health is too iffy for this hobby.
It's not a matter of ability or "too much effort" to walk a mile.
It's a matter of not wanting to walk in an unfamiliar city/environment, especially after dark. :)
I routinely jog a lot further than a mile...

I am willing to be your TTC MP guide for one day during your visit. All I ask for is a one-hour body slide with the MPA of my choice as recompense for my transit expertise.

For about the same cost of going to an mp there are a plethora of sps in the downtown core that are walking or subway distance.. Book a lady from Naughty Nuru if you want body slide experience. Have fun.

Ah! Safety is it? Compared to many American cities Toronto is extremely safe, even after dark; our crime rates are a tenth of yours, and only a couple of neighbourhoods—not at all popular with spa and incall owners—might qualify as 'unwise for the unwary'. Since most of your destinations will likely be on, (or just around the corner from) principal commercial streets which are all well served by transit and the only walk would be from/to the bus or streetcar stop (which are all called-out on the vehicle) I'd say a fit guy like you should have no issues getting around.

BTW the regular Google Maps app will give you directions by transit (noting the free transfers between routes) and walking. Walkscore.com will actually try to quantify the experience.

Having a car in the city of Toronto is like having a ball and chain attached to your leg. U can't find parking and if u do find parking and u want to go to another part of the city u have to take the damn car with u and find parking again. It's a total night meir. Plus the traffic with a cat is a total abortion. Put rocket man app on your smart phone and take ttc. And most major stops have displays that'll tell u when next bus or streetcar is coming. Failing that take cab or Uber.
