Ive been to Jamaica a couple times, mostly to the resorts. this one time I decided to get an air bnb just outside of negril in westmoreland. I would walk into negril to pick up supplies at the grocery store. this was in the off season so it was so quiet. met a lot of the locals on the trip everyday and sampled so much local roadside food.
I asked one of the older gentleman who worked at where I was staying if I could come with him for a day. just follow his routine. he had some property up further in the country on a hill. all rock with pockets of earth where he was growing various plants and food trees. he goal was to build a place on that hill. what he had was beautiful. he told me about german town, but never got the opportunity to go there. we went to go visit his son and had lunch. it was a great day.
Id love to explore the rest of the non tourist area. I am a bit weary of doing it alone; without a guide, especially deeper in the island.
