Now, if you are referring to the control 'YOKE'.

The reason (most) aircraft don't have a fully round steering wheel is because it only controls roll by deflecting ailerons by less than a 90deg turn of the yoke. The pilot needs to be able to immediately recognize which way the ailerons are deflected as well as not having to make multiple turns of the 'wheel' to command a full deflection of the ailerons.

NOPE!, That was Gung Ho the theatre movie, my trivia question was about the tv series Gung Ho,, Keaton was not in the TV show.
