Looking for a good furniture store. Doesn't have to be high quality furniture, but something a step up from IKEA or Canadian Tire would be nice.

In particular someplace with kitchen tables, sofas, and bookshelves.

(I was looking online and it seems like furniture really is a buyer's market, i.e., it's best to shop around and wait for deals because when you find them they're pretty significant price cuts)

On Dundas street East in Mississauga (from Dixie rd. to hwy 427 in Etobicoke) there's a whole row of about 20 to 30 decent stores

There's a really great furniture store on Parliament between Carlton and Gerrard. It's the only one, so you can't miss it. But they have good quality furniture that's reasonably priced, and they do free delivery. It's a family owned business. I think it might even be called Parliament Furniture.

IMO Urban Barn and EQ3 have the best value out there.
The furniture is modern and well built.:D

eq3 and structube are both on the cheaper end but nicer than bland ikea for sure.

imo the most comfortable sofas are the montauk sofas but they will run you $4000+ for just the sofa. not sure what your budget is.

Manorhouse Furniture in Scarborough. Basically a warehouse packed with stuff, but he's cheap, delivers, and will order just about anything you want at a serious discount to the retail stores.

Great place to buy mattresses.

The big chains are a big rip off. Crap quality. Yeah, they're cheap, but the shit they sell is just that shit. Made from cardboard.

There are two places that come to mind that sell decent furniture at decent prices.

1. GH Johnston Trading Company

Dupont and Dovercourt. Not Artshop, but not Ikea either. Huge place, lots of decent selection, no pressure.

2. Cornerston on Dundas.

Kind of a funky lineup of new and antique furniture. I needed a printer table recently and I needed a certain height and very sturdy as the new printer is quite large and quite heavy. Went all over town and they had the perfect piece at a reasonable price. Antique to boot. I really like this place. (Chicks dig it too, so you can take them there and they are all impressed that you know about such a cool find.)

There's also a place on the southwest corner of Parliment & Queen - not sure of the name. But you can visit at any hour because you can see much of their selection through the huge windows! Whenever I go by there I always stop & take a look as they have a lot of interesting & funky items. Good place if you aren't too "out there" in the way of style, but want some colour or something just a little left of centre.
