Needless to say religion comes into play, however, he wasn't fired for messing up a biblical quotation, "burn[ing] crosses on students' arms with a Tesla coil during science experiments," is more than adequate grounds for dismissal!

Likewise keeping a bible in a desk drawer is quite different from having a bible front and center on his desk.
Hmmm let me google tesla coil cross burnings LOL!

Thankfully, the extremes of our prominent religions in Canada don't go that far.

Well there are restrictions to Canadian passports..... e.g. living here at least 6 months to be able to access certain benefits.
My comment was in reference to being able to move abroad. Having an American passport leaves me with essentially no restrictions.

More details from the BBC:

Mr Ashraf said that the teacher at the centre of the row, Arfa Iftikhar, "perhaps inadvertently skipped a page of the book and ended her handwritten text with some lines from the next chapter, which is about street beggars".
Yes, I can see how that might get the "hardliners" worked up. One thing is for certain they don't have a website devoted to "Holy Mosses" typos in church bulletins. Or the caption contest on Ship of Fools.

Can you even create a linear argument?
Not very practical when I'm responding to your disjointed comments.

Choosing to stay in Canada is not taking it for granted.
So now you're making my points for me?

None of what you have said refutes that many would assert that Canada is not the best country.
How could anyone possibly get everyone else to agree that any particular country is the best? I obviously meant that I, personally, think it's the best. The survey you provided had it ranked at #4, so we're all obviously in range.

Furthermore, my personal situation and choices is not necessarily a direct reflection of the quality of the country I live in.
Which country would you live in, if it were up to you?

You yourself admit the US is not as good yet you choose to live there.
My goal is to create wealth for my family. I view the US as the best country in the world in which to achieve that goal. Once it has been achieved, I will very seriously look at relocating to Canada.

Point is people move for all sorts of reasons the quality of the destination is just one of many factors.
Well if THAT's your point, then there's no reason to debate it. My point is that Canada and Pakistan are about as close to Heaven vs Hell as you can get on this planet.

Okay now I understand..... it's your opinion. Yet you felt the need to say that I didn't know what the fuck I was talking about. To expect someone to have the same opinion as you or risk being labelled as "not knowing what they are talking about" is ridiculous..... especially when the person provides support for their reasoning and all you have is your opinion.

I see a difference in being called "the best" and "one of the best."

You yourself have just pointed out that where you live is based on reasons specific to you. You have also pointed out that people are going to have different opinions on the best country to live in. So why are you expecting that I agree with you on Canada being the best country to live in. I take best seriously and being 4th or whatever is not #1. I have seen Canadian cities on the tops of lists but not Canada as a country. Maybe there is a survey that supports that but there are many that don't.

I won't play your game of where would I live because my answer is based on my opinions. What's best for me is not best for you.

Just admit it. We've gone on for 3 pages because you choose to call me out on my intelligence when in reality it's a difference of opinions...... your opinions are not facts.

That's my way of disagreeing with you. We discussed this already. Remember? I apologized for offending you, you said you accepted. Ring a bell?

To expect someone to have the same opinion as you or risk being labelled as "not knowing what they are talking about" is ridiculous.....
Jesus fucking Christ. I said I was sorry for that and you already accepted it! Do we need to hug it out???

especially when the person provides support for their reasoning and all you have is your opinion.
Your links supported my position, if anything. You think pointing out that Canada was ranked the #4 place in the world to live disproves my assertion that it's #1? Give me a break. We're talking about Canada being heaven compared to Pakistan here. Remember? See the title of this thread to jog your memory.

I see a difference in being called "the best" and "one of the best."
You seem to think that being ranked #4 proves your point: That Canada is "far from Utopia." I disagree.

Somewhere along the line, you forgot the point you were trying to make.

I won't play your game of where would I live because my answer is based on my opinions.
I'm going to go ahead and assume that Canada is ranked far ahead of Pakistan on your list. If I'm wrong, feel free to let me know. If I'm right, then let's get back to discussing what I said about Pakistan being a failed state.

Canada like the US is great but it depends on who you are. If you are an aboriginal in Canada things aren't that great...... much like being native in the US. IF it was utopia then this would not be the case. You have politicians who lie and waste millions. IF you are not well educated your job prospect sucks.

IS it better than Pakistan sure but that was never in question.

There's a difference between saying Canada is the best vs Canada is better than Pakistan to live in.

Frank... Remember when I asked you this:
It doesn't. The Canada tangent came up when you decided to point out that it's wrong for me to suggest that people need to look at what goes on in their own country before looking at other countries.

The Army keeping people from crossing a bridge to leave the destruction of Katrina is pretty fucked up. This exact details of this is not the point so let's not get into a discussion on FEMA I'm just pointing out that choose any country and you can find some fucked up things taht happen in it.

False.

Here is what I wrote immediately prior to your going off on your Canada tangent.

Pakistan is a failed state.

I blame its founders for coming up with this stupid partition idea, the British for allowing (encouraging?) it, and now the Americans for exploiting the country while giving nothing back. Except for the billions in bribes -err, aid- to the military thugs that run that shithole.
