As far as I'm concerned all Bell companies are evil. That goes for Bell Telephone, Bell Sympatico, Bell Mobility, and Bell ExpressVu.
...
I agree and would add rogers as well but not too many choices. As they say;

"No beer[web] and no TV make Homer something something."

Hi, I want to find other people who have had their money stolen by BELL for a possible suing of this malicious company. I personally know of 5 people (co-workers, neighbors, family members) who have had their money literally stolen by BELL. Here's how it works: if you didn't have a good credit or credit card and wanted a cell phone, BELL would ask for a $250 "security deposit" to be given back to you at the end of the year/contract if you never defaulted on your payments. Fair enough. But then when your contract's end came and you went to BELL for your deposit they would ask you for your receipt. 80% of people would not have it, so BELL refused to give them their money back claiming they didn't possess "proof".

If this thieving company can dig your info and have enough info on you that you don't have a credit card how in God's name they won't be able to know that you gave them $250? If they don't know you gave them $250 then how do they know when you owe them $10 from 3 years ago?

Has anybody here had their money stolen by BELL in this manner?

It's not stolen if the contract states you must provide proof of purchase to get your security deposit back. And why anyone would be so stupid as to pay a "security deposit" without getting the terms and conditions of said deposit is beyond me.

Instead of crying on TERB, why don't you just take them to small claims court?

I think I'll try one of the smaller ones too. Sympatico frequently goes down for no reason and their service techs are always "unavilable" for weeks at a time to fix my speed problem (it's been months) even though I pay for the ultra high speed package.

I had bad experiences with Rogers before too and the speed slow downs in busy areas and the download cap limits pissed me off.

As a guy who works for one of those "smaller ones", I'd think again. If you're going with DSL and you live in a Bell serviced area, you're going through Bell's outside lines. These smaller companies rent the lines from Bell at a discount and there is not much of a guaranty of the quality of the loop. They have to rely on Bell to fix any metallic problems that are outside. For example, you have problem with your DSL. You call ABC telecom to complain. The trouble ticket goes through their process, ie, testers, field techs. They find that the trouble is in Bell's part of the circuit. They have to call Bell and open up another trouble ticket and the process starts all over again.

Trust me. I hate Bell too, but if you're going to be using DSL why go through a middle man?

Thanks for the advice man, next time I'll throw my BELL bills in the garbage and refuse to pay them for lack of proof. Awesome.

Go ahead. They have proof they sent the bills to the address YOU provided them. That's all the proof they need.

Sounds like someone with a serious axe to grind...

Hey Esco! call them back and do a major bitchout.
Then when the tech guy starts talking, ask him to put down the paper he's reading from and give you some real answers.

Bell Sympatico sucks big cocks!

I called recently to complain and asked to speak to a Manager. The CSR REFUSED and then HUNG UP ON ME!

As soon as I can switch to another provider, I will never use Bell again.

yep, we used to do that all the time.
rule of thumb is, NEVER at any cost let the customer speak to the manager (at least try not to)...because as we were trained "you have the power to deal with any situation"...bullshit

i really encourage anyone who wants, to use my signature pics and spread the joy of this wonderful great (rip-off artist-scamming) company. :D

lol you should see the tech guys at bell sympatico exclusive or whatever...setting up a friends computer, then had to call to setup multiple outlook express emails, the FUCKER told me to call microsoft, i said, they're not the ISP you guys are, wtf @ you sending me to MS...but i figured it out on my own anyway...stupid fucks...(and this was the BEST OF THE BEST, you got a direct line to the Quebec head office, where the press 1 prompt is French, 2 is English...and you get connected instantly with someone (granted they know shit from fuck).

LOL, I've had 6 modems since I started with them, about 1 1/2 years ago.
I was told by more than 1 repair tech the problem is the main line servicing the homes, its in need of replacement, yet they(Bell) tries to lay the blame on my houise wiring, a modem, my equipment and anything else thay can dream up.
I don't believe anything any body from there tells me now.

To be completely fair, Rogers has it's moments too.
I've had problems in the past and they keep telling you to do the same thing over and over again.
So one time I called and the tech started in on the same speach so I snapped.
I was yelling at him to stop reading from a piece of fucking paper that I know he's looking at. I asked him if he actually knows what he's talking about.
I repeated to him exactly what he was about to tell me and he fell completely silent. I then started to demoralize him with the line of "you're incompetent and dont' know your shit." "I am not a techie and I already know how to do this shit and probably know more about computers than you do. So why don't you put down that paper and tell me something that I don't know." He stopped talking all together. I asked for the manager and he said he couldn't help me and asked if there was anything else he could do for me. I laughed at him and called him a moron and hung up. In five minutes my internet was back up and running and it wasn't because of his help. I just did a reconfig on my ip address after I restarted the modem. It was most likely a glitch on their line but heaven forbid they actually tell you that.

Little extra info. Most of the tech calls are answered in India and that's no joke. Most CSR operations are being outsourced to companies in India or Pakistan. What a load of shit.

I have Sympatico Ultra that worked fine for a few months, then last week it stopped completely and I was told it was a linecard failure They fixed that and it worked again, then last night for some reason my 4 mrg speed dropped to 200kbs and now I have shitty surf speed.
I then called them up and they said it would take 3-4 business days to look into the problem, and probably a few more days to fix the problem.

Now I'm pissed!!!!!
I have had a nightmare with Bell Sympatico in the past. We are on high speed but my speed test was only showing just over basic DSL speed. I informed them and at first they said they couldn't even read if we were getting a connection or not. After numerous repetitive calls to their so called customer service dept they couldn't figure it out (don't expect them to ever call you back, you have to be on them like flies on shit). Finally after 3 weeks they solved the problem, something to do with their switching plant. All in all I spent about 8-10 hrs on the phone with them including a shouting match at a completely rude CSR. To Bell's credit they did waive the fee for one month and took $10 off the monthly rate for a year. Still I'm praying nothing goes wrong in the future as it is utter hell dealing with them.

Just switched to Rogers

I have used Sympatico HS for over five years. I'm in Toronto but the speed sucked...was told I was more than 5km from some switching station. Recently I spoke to one of Sympatico's CSR was told when I asked about a problem, "It's not our problem"...RUDE!

Last year, I upgraded to MSN Premium that included Freedom Antivirus, Antispyware...what a disaster and big monthly cost! Everything got screwed up and getting new installation discs took forever by mail...they wouldn't let me pick them up from their distribution centre (8km from home).

Well enough was enough...I cancelled MSN Premium with it's Freedom stuff and installed Norton. Another problem...Sympatico tells me they are not compatible with Norton. Told me to use "dial-up"...horrible.

I called Rogers and they were here within two days and now I'm running both for a transistion period. Rogers consistently runs 3X faster than Sympatico and calls to Roger's CSR have been great. The service is about $10/month less expensive (for the first year).

With all the grief I've had with Bell Sympatico, I'm considering switching my home phone to Roger's and as soon as mobile number portability is available, I'll dump Bell Mobility.

Thank you "Mr. Rogers"

fuck, that sucks, Esco ... but so does Primus, AOL, Rogers and Bose !

oddly enough, moments after I posted I got a call from Bell - wonders never cease. After some exchange of the usual formalities, she told me she had changed something ... my "profile" ? ... anyway, wonder of all wonders they fixed it ... whatever she changed it was never something they got around to changing when my modem was replaced ... but it works and I now have a dial up modem back up for emergencies.

PS thanks for the Jessica gif
