An intellectual woman such as yourself should not be using those types of words.
A nice gentleman like you should not expose your twin sister's cute buns and gigantic juggs to the public. ;) LOL!!!

Well, I was thinking, "Imagine how bad it would be if you were making $15.00 an hour as opposed to $240.00" Then I thought, "naa, better not say it" The you came out and said how you were going to make the dough for the new computer.

So, look at the bright side, it will take you about a day's work to pay for a new compie verses a couple of weeks for most of the world.
I know it could be worse. And yes, I am "lucky" to have the possibility to raise the money faster than if I was making only 15/hr.

That being said, please don't presume that because I charge 250/hr I am rolling in money, or that I make $1200 in a typical day of work, or that I don't have other commitments that take priorities over the time I have available to do sex work.

But yes, I'm fully aware that it could be worse. And yes, I will be able to get a new computer soon enough. It doesn't make my computer dying on me at the worst possible time during the school term any less frustrating.

Anyone wants to tell me that I'm an idiot for not having done backups more regularly?

Can't a girl just fucking vent here?

I wouldn't say "idiot". You're no different than any of my customers although they only pay me half of what you get, :(

I'm already stressed out and overworked enough with the end of the term craziness without having to deal with a dead computer.
Ah, I remember it well! You know why they do it to us Gen, it is because it feels so good when the pain finally stops ;)

I always found Autumn with exams just before or after Christmas much worse than the Spring Term.

Fuck!

My computer just died on me. And of course, it's been a little too long since I did a backup of my stuff.

Fuck. Fuck. FUCK.

Buying a new computer was not in my budget.

Fuck!

Please, pray for me that I can get some computer geek to recuperate my life from my defunct computer.
Hi Gen,
We have never met, but I sense you are an intelligent and creative young lady. While I feel your frustration, why don't you turn your misfortune in to a rewarding opportunity. Somewhere in TERBland there may be an individual, couple or moresome who can satisfy your every need - ie they can get a deal on a brand new, fully loaded PC to replace your defunct model - all you have to do is determine what value you would place on such a donation. It sounds like me to be a perfect opportunity for "buyers" and "sellers" to both be happy. So...what might you pull together for a new PC?

I fully sympathize. My computer died on me unexpectedly back in June. While I was able to replace it, it's still a pain having to deal with the unexpected expense.

Gen, I wouldn't worry. They most likely will be able to recover the information on your hard drive as well as all your settings. Last year my computer went kaput and they recovered everything. Mind you that wasn't a Mac, but I would assume its the same as a PC.

you can vent all you want, its sexy as hell! I love it when a girl vents the sex is so much better afterwards.

Tell me about it. I've been cursed since I started grad school: every year, some shit fall on my head at the end of the fall term, when I have no time, no energy, and no patience to deal with it. Every frickin' year.

For a PC? Not much. But for a new Macbook, I would whore myself. ;)

Thanks for the reassuring words. This is also what one of my geek friends was telling me earlier. Hopefully, this will be the case.

As for your theory re: venting and great sex, if it is true, the next guy to land in my bed will be in for a treat. I think I almost reached my annual venting quota today. ;)

OK - can you just imagine the next round of PC and Mac ads on TV. Could be the best campaign yet for Macs

Hi I'm a PC - can you help me find a girlfriend on TERB.

I'm a MAC - Gen has just been all over me!!

I know I won't...Because I'm a geek, I've lost data from drive deaths, I should know better, and I still don't back it up. And don't ask about how much my PC is...It's a proper Franken-PC built for gaming. Had to take the liquid cooling system out when the water pump died though.

You have time available tonight? :D Will drive like maniac for vent sex.

Wow. Thanks to all the geeks ;) who sent PMs offering to help. I'm a little less grumpy and pissed from feeling the love.

I'm on a Mac. The thing worked seamlessly for the last 6 years, not a single problem ever, until a couple hours ago when it just shut down out of the blue and refuses to come out of its coma. I will bring it to the doctor tomorrow, and hopefully, they can do something with it.

If not, I'll just have to fork the $1200 to get a new one.
Get a new one anyways and save the old as a backup

Better yet, donate it to a third world school

6 years old !!! come on Gen, I get the 3 year warranty then upgrade every 3 years

At $6-800 for a new laptop that is only $200 per year for the latest best computer fully warrantied

Oh yeah, I like the part about Fuck, Fuck, FUCK !

Hey Gen,

From your description, it sounds like the power supply went out, which isn't such a big deal. It's surprising that it lasted this long. However, once that's replaced, your info, which is intact on the hard drive, will be accessible.

In a place far, far away
As long it was not the hard drive that crashed your data should be save - just remove HD out of old machine put it in an enclosure use something like Norton Ghost to create an image and then put that image on the new PC.
