I know a friend that has a captive works 600s , and says it rarely goes down.

I'd like some feedback on which ones are good right now.

had a buzz box , but its no longer being supported from what i've been reading. a friend's buzz plus is still up though.

how much are the captive works box's going for , and some info on where to get one for a good price would be great, if anyone can help.

a "friend" has managed to find a signal from 148W. Where can a channel list be found for that bird (Echostar)?

I thought 148 (west coast) carried the same programming as 61 (east coast).

Is there a single LNB that can be used to pick up 118.7 & 119??

I heard there is an upgrade underway... Bell is doing a card swap & apparently Dish will not be far behind

Circular Dual LNB CB2008
It is for circular polarity satellites and it is a wide band LNB 11.7-12.75ghz, so can get 118w TPs as well as 119w TPs at the same time, if using a 30" dish, 118w is still a lower powered sat. They cost about $25-$35

They will be swapping to Nagra 3... rom 240 cards..they have been testing the stream for those cards since Aug 2007 (The 1815/1816 ecm's) Since the cards haven't actually been out yet I doubt any serious works been done..YET... I would expect the cards to be pretty dang secure though... I mean there still isn't a public s0x hack, and they are only marginally more secure than the 102/103. They could EASILY adopt some of the same types of techniques that Dtv adopted in the P4 and end testing alltogether...

BEV will be starting a Card swap April 15th for any subs that still have the 102's in their IRDs IE: 3100, 5900 some 6100's and 9200's. I post the supporting Documents outlining the preliminary details. As for the 4100's they are shipping them with upgraded embedded smart cards. I'm still not sure what they will do with the existing subs that have the 4100's with the 102's embedded on them, I suspect an IRD swap or software upgrade to enable the card slot. As I learn more I will post the details. The document doesn't state that it will be the 102's but we all know what they mean when they say only select receivers.

Effective date Immediately

Description This year Bell ExpressVu will be upgrading select receivers with a new version of the Conditional Access (CA) SmartCard.
Store Impacts:

ExpressVu would like stores to focus on selling rather than swapping cards. Therefore, all swapping will be done either at the supply chain end of the business or at the client level.
Store inventory of receivers with the current card/software will continue to function for several months so stores can continue to sell these. Once these receivers are activated on a client account ExpressVu will send out a new card along with instructions on how to activate their replacement card. Client will be given the option of self activation via the web or by calling the activation centre.

Important

Stores should begin to exercise ‘first in, first out’ inventory practices so that as they receive new shipments of receivers with the new CA they will put these aside and sell their current inventory first. This will make the swap faster and more efficient for the client and retailer.

In order to assist retailers in identifying which units have the new CA, ExpressVu will ship these out with a sticker affixed in proximity to the serial number / UPC label. This sticker will be orange in colour and bear the ‘iTV’ logo as seen below:



The table below outlines the receivers models impacted and dates the receivers are being shipped with a new CA SmartCard

Receiver Model Being shipping with new CA Smart Card
4100 / 4120 March
5900/5920 February

Notes:
• The receiver models 6141 and 9242 already come equipped with the new CA smart card.
• All other models will be done at client level (i.e. 6120R, 9200, 3100, 5200 and etc.)
• 2-TV bundles will only be stickered if both units within the kit contain the new CA.

Client Impacts:

Beginning April 15, 2008, Bell clients that require this upgrade will receive a letter, a new CA SmartCard and instructions on how to swap the SmrtCard.

Client positioning • ExpressVu will be upgrading the software in your receiver(s), which will require you to install and activate a new SmartCard. Installing new SmartCards will ensure that you continue to receive programming and prepare you for future service enhancements to ExpressVu™ digital TV from Bell.

Process • All impacted clients will receive a letter in the mail with the new upgraded CA SmartCard and instructions on how to swap their cards.

Question and Answer Q1: What happens when current software no longer functions?
A1: Any client with the current CA SmartCard will have been swapped well in advance of the termination date of the current software. Stores will be advised several weeks in advance of this software termination date. This will offer the opportunity for stores to inspect their on hand inventory for any units not bearing the sticker so that they can focus on selling these.

There's 4 there. AA Electronics, Tristan? Electronics and RCI Electronics. Around the corner is Ariza/Incredible Electronics. Ariza/Incredible used to sell some clones, but they tell you which ones are.

The electronics parts suppliers are Active Components and Sayal.
