I am not a Mason, but I know their secret handshake, which I learned from someone who mistakenly thought I was a Mason.

The Victoria Lodge is located near the corner of Keele and Annette, on Annette, within 100 feet of the lawn bowling pit. A few years ago, I made an appointment to visit the Lodge, through their website. Masons meet a couple of times a month from January to June and from September to December. My visit was on a Saturday afternoon in August.

I just wanted to see the interior, and all the questions I asked the two guys who met me were about the paintings in the meeting room, and the acoustics. Downstairs is a dining room with a bar, and there's a really old bathroom, but it was very clean. I only entered those three rooms, but they were most of the building.

Anyone else who's curious about the inside of a Lodge can arrange a personal or group tour. They also have 'open house' dates. In the context of a group tour, women would not be denied entry, but as far as I know, they are still not allowed to join the Lodge as a member. Masonry doesn't try to recruit new members officially. Someone who wants to be a Mason needs to ask to join, but individual members might try to recruit specific people from their social circle. My curiosity was satisfied in about ten minutes.

Will they let me in if I'm black? I can do the black handshake.
Years ago at work, 2 coworkers, one black , one white, just discovered that they were Masons in my presence., when they noticed each other's mason rings. They then did the Mason handshake, where IIRC they rubbed their thumbs on the other's knuckle or something like that, lol.

I didn't know there were black masons.

I think one of the membership requirements is that you must state that you believe in God or other Supreme Being. I'm assuming they would consider post op Trans female to male applicants, who met their other requirements, whatever those might be.

I think Freemasonry is a form of patronage or non sanguinary nepotism, whereby Masons give preferential treatment to other Masons. It's sort of like the Jewish store owner who says 'That's 14 dollars, but for you, 12'.

Sounds like you might like to visit the George Washington National Masonic Memorial in Alexandria , VA, very near a stop on the DC Metro. I'm sure they have no problem with anyone that pays admission - limited hours...

In my mind, just a long established frat. Like a frat, you can make some contacts and some of them do good work for the community . Don't know how good their keg parties are though.

I always thought they...

control the British crown
keep the metric system down
leaves Atlantis off the maps
keep the Martians under wraps
hold back the electric car
make Steve Guttenberg a star
rob cave-fish of their sight
rig every Oscar night

That could be another organization though....

I have a few Mason friends; they tend to be really smart, kind, open minded, and interesting people. And very loyal. I do wish it wasn't such a boys club but nonetheless, I am happy to call them brothers, however, there are more and more branches where females are treated more equally in existence, mostly in the US sadly. Canada has a ways to go yet...

It is a good group for people who like to socialize with other like minded folk. But not especially if you are looking for any mystery of life secrets, I have heard it is actually very tame and relatively boring compared to what the masses would like to believe ;)

They had a well stocked bar in the dining room.

There were unusual acoustics in the meeting room, an echo that changed, depending on where you were when you made a noise. The ceiling was painted with the signs of the zodiac, and there were also Biblical themed paintings, like the ark of the Covenant, also a large pipe organ. I asked one of the guys to play a few notes, just to hear what it sounds like. At the front were two stones, one rough, the other a finished smooth cube. Paintings of former members were on upstairs and downstairs walls, and movie theater style seats were against the side walls, with sponsor plates.

Another very interesting building is The Great Hall, on the southeast corner of Queen Street West and Dovercourt, just west of the CAMH. It's a former Templar Lodge, now rented out for events. I saw Vanessa Carlton perform there in March, 2017, and took note of the Masonic type arches at the ceiling. It's an excellent concert venue, known as The Great Hall when there's balcony seating, and Longboat Hall for shows where the audience is all at floor level. If you're in that neighbourhood, try opening the door on Queen Street. If it's locked, a private event is probably taking place. If the door is unlocked, you can walk right in and look around, and if you see any staff, they'll just answer your questions, or leave you be.

I ve always thought they where a joke until I did a few political party get together. The masons are always around.
There parties are not much different from terb parties and Terb is well on its way to being a Mason like group from what I can see at least at the "boss" level. Of course I have never been to any of there "real" parties so who knows - only the ones they host for politicians of all strips.
Much music used one of their temples but I have no idea if that's just a coincidence.

Renting a space on days or nights when it would otherwise be empty is good business. They don't meet often, and not at all in the summer, when all Executives take at least one full month off, to provide a valid excuse for long delays in resolving important matters where no one wants to have to make the decision. My father was a Vice-President of an Insurance company, but not a Mason, as far as I know.

The Masonic Temple at Yonge and Davenport used to host a lot of concerts, most notably, Led Zeppelin in 1969. The only show I saw there was Hothouse Flowers, around 1990.

Mormons stole handshakes and signs from freemasons, and they perform them in their temples lol. They think these ceremonies are essential to getting into the highest level of heaven. Regular folk cannot go into their temples though.
