John Ivison: Chrystia Freeland's savage exit

His goose is so cooked - whether he delays an election call or not, he's relegating his party to 'whatever' status after the next election.
The Ontario Liberals can loan them their minivan. It’s all they’ll need to drive their entire party around after the next election.

Update: Trudeau is expected to make a statement at 2 PM and requested all of his ministers be present. Will he resign or double-down?

BQ and NDP has called upon Trudeau to resign. Good riddance,
Even Jagmeet, Trudeau’s coconspirator who’s been propping up the Liberals for ages?

He’s asking for Trudeau to resign, but won’t vote no confidence to force an election. It’s okay Jagmeet, we know it’s all about your pension.

Edit: Watch how many ministers jump ship, saying they want to spend “more time with family.” lol

I've thought that either they were sleeping together or there was at least sexual tension between them. Not kidding.

I read body language quite well. IF there was something going on, this makes sense. Both sides were angry before Trump's tariff announcement.

Anyway, things are not looking good. This GST pause is just to keep us quiet until the proverbial shit hits the fan.

That economic update sucks balls. No wonder she resigned, the federal deficit is up to $61.9B. That's not tenable.
The document shows a much larger deficit than expected for the fiscal year that ended last March because of billions of dollars the government expects to pay for Indigenous legal claims and pandemic-related benefits and loans it doesn’t expect to recover.

In other words, all that CERB/CRB and CEBA that the Liberals pushed out the door during the pandemic which found it's way into the hands of people that weren't qualified to receive in the first place - and the CRA doesn't expect to ever collect on it.

What a fucking surprise! And, naturally, that $40B "Guardrail" that Freeland set was proven to be bullshit.

Trudeau spent 50% over what he budgeted.

First off, $40 billion was already outrageous, but now the official number is $61.9B? Nevermind an early election or resigning, he should be arrested.

No, Freeland says you cannot have your $250 to blow on hookers, as we need to save our acorns for a potential trade war with the United States.

For the good of the country!!
But I was going to invest it in a ETF. lol

To borrow from President Bill Clinton, Trudeau can now feel some of your pain.

Remember how they wanted to make changes to the Capital Gains Inclusion Rate from 1/2 to 2/3 on amounts over $250,000?

In context, this now makes sense. They spend; they tax; they spend; and they tax some more.

Then, they say we will cut the GST for two months and give you $250 of your own money back, so you will ignore that we spend and tax and spend and tax.

I don't even know what to think. I can't image Mark Carney wanting any of this.
Isn't Carney the Chairman of Bloomberg? Seems like a pretty good gig to me. Trudeau isn't going to leave anything for his successors to salvage.

I guess having the lowest net debt-to-gdp ratio in the G7 doesn't cut it as some here think. 😆
Canada's anemic growth for several years and its future growth prospects are hurting the Liberal party. Some of us have been discussing this for awhile now and others have been dismissing it.
