France and America - the on-going "love n hate"

To be honest, whether the world likes it or not ... if it wasn't for the United States involvement in the WWII, we would definitely not be living the way we are today ...

There was absolutely no way Europe or Asia could defend themselves from the unstoppble and invincible Nazis and the Japanese Imperial army respectively ...

Yeah, the Nazis could not get into the English heartland ... but London was bombed like hell. It was only a matter of time that the Nazi could beat the English in a war of attrition. Think about it man, with the British Isles blockaded and almost the whole of Europe under Axis control ... the Nazi Empire could just use their advantage of more natural resources to starve out the Brits.

As in Asia, although the Japanese were tied down and in dreadlock in China, it was only a matter of time the Japanese could starve out the Chinese with all the natural resources from occupied lands (just like the Nazi could of done to England). And not to mention the Japanese had total control of the Chinese coast lines. Plus, the Japanese also had control of Indonasian oil ... the strategic and most important resouce of the war and of peace ...

Now, with everyone occupied and only one isolated country far far away, the US was the only one who could really end this mess. Although many countries defended themselves and contributed to the war effort, I must say that the biggest victor is without a doubt the Americans. Plus, on D-Day ... most of the dudes were US soldiers and the atomic bombs dropped on Japan were made in America although the technology wasn't really developed by US scientists ... but they were dropped from a US warplane ... and thats what counts

Just MHO ...

I also agree with TRAVELLINGUY and DAVE, Canada is a wussie that should learn to be strong and independent like France. For fuck's sakes, Canada has more minerals and wealth than France, why can't she be like her? I admire France, a truly wealthy nation that doesn't let the U.S. twist her arm.

My fellow Canadians ... if you promise to vote for me in the next elections I will promise you a number of benefit which will make our beloved nation wealthy, strong, indepedant and prosperous.

Here are a few things I would do to satisfy the people of Canada:

- legalized prostitution and model it after the Dutch

- have these prostitutes checked at a registered clinic once a week to guarantee the safety of all parties

- strenght our military

- spend more money on education, research and development so Canada will be a knowledge-based economy leading the world in every facet of human life

- go all around the world and negotiate with other countries to strengthen Canada's economic position

- exploit and dicover our natural resources

- women will be superior to men and all men should be on their knees within a 1 metre radius in the presence of the superior sex

- will set up booths and stations all across the country where women can have their feet serviced as well as other services ...

- every male Canadian citizen shall be subserviant to at least one female - by law ...

- only women can have ownership of lands, properties and all other capitals ...

- women should have 200% more pay then men for the same job ...

Because I am a democratic leader, I will leave the rest of the list for the people ...

Please, in the next election, vote for "sub dave" as your new Prime Minister ...

PS - sub dave has served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a submariner and hence the term "sub dave" ... "sub" does not refer to his sexual submissiveness to women, but to the loyal and superior effort he has put in in serving the Canadain armed forces ...

The United States entered after many other countries and millions of men and women were involved in fighting the Germans. It was only after this that the US decided to carry part of the load, despite benefiting from the sacrifices made by others for so long.

Yeah, millions of men retreating to England and getting their ass kicked in North Africa. The loan exception to this would of course be the French who surrendered and set up an appeasement government. Viva La France!

Without US Destroyers England would have starved, without US tanks Egypt would have fallen and without US troops the French would be speaking German or Russian. Thems the facts.

While I agree that the US getting involved was key, IMHO I felt that the biggest key in the Nazi defeat was Hitler's decision to abandon the Non-Agression pact he signed w/Stalin and invade the Soviet Union. If he left the Soviets alone then I am not so certain that the Allies would have pulled it out... US or no US.
