Brings back memories Mother's Day 93. Remember listening to the radio, the police officers Screaming for help . It seems a car overloaded with teenagers going to or coming from a so-called Bush party In Caledon, Hit a tree and burst into flames, if memory serves me right there were six or eight people in the car.

At the Lakeshore dog leg at Cherry Street intersection.

Motor vehicle crashes hittng a concrete power pole are bad.
But hitting a support bent that holds up the elevated Gardiner Expresway deck.
That thing is not going to budge an inch.

The car while it burned, was bad.
But the frame after being loaded to the flat bed tow, man was the front smooshed.
Yes the bettery fire was eventful, but even an ICE vehicle likely would have had multiple fatalities.

Speed and hitting a concrete post- it does no matter what provided the car propulsion in this case.
The one thing I want to say is, if you have never seen a metallic fire, I hope you never have to deal with one. Lithium is extremely dangerous metal that is pyrophoric. Metallic fires require special extinguishing equipment and methods. Many firefighters have, if I recall correctly, left them to burn themselves out. Lithium batteries require substantial design to prevent them from rupture and possible fire.
Rest in peace the victims and speedy recovery to the survivor. We will not know what happen d until any investigation is complete.

Passing motorist stopped and pulled her out from the back before the vehicle seriosly cuaght fire.
The people who pulled her out did not know there was other people inside the vehicle, she was in shock and did not say anything otherwise could of save another life or two

I've noticed that the local media don't mention the ethnicity of those involved. These types of accidents where 3-4 are killed seem to happen on a regular basis. There was the one in the Maritimes on the Trans-Canada a few years back, and then a similar one in Edmonton. Then there was the Indian student in the rented BMW travelling south on Highway 400 in the winter a few years back, and now this. These accidents probably claimed 12-15 lives. What's going on: no seatbelts, wearing sandals which get stuck under gas or brake pedal, speeding etc.??? I just don't get it
