Isn't six ( or 7 ) months long enough. Its never going to go away , we need to learn to live with it. We cant play baseball. tennis , golf or get a haircut but its ok to ride in a packed bus or subway .

I thought it was all the PPE and social distancing...

I remember the 90's very well, governments that have inadequate revenues cut things, like health care with disastrous results. If businesses and workers can't pay taxes because they are locked down or just plain gone, hospitals and healthcare will inevitable suffer as well. The government can not keep printing and borrowing money forever. The ecomonic (as well as social costs) of this media driven hysteria will have consequences for years. It took Toronto tourism alone over two years to recover from SARS. This will be much worse.

And what of the effect on young people? They have a statistically insignificant chance of death at .001%, yet are suffering the worst due to depression, social alienation, and loss of job opportunity and experience, especially those of secondary and post-secondary age. All because the government could not keep its octogenarian population safe. Plus, the massive public debt they will inherit will burden them for their entire generation, and probably their kids also. Its terribly unfair to them.

The China travel ban did nothing. 40,000 still came through from China and most of the cases were coming from the EU at the time.
