Yep, the Ontario's PC succeeded in shifting into the party of the working men and ladies and it showed last night.

say goodbye to health care, now that pandemic is moving to the endemic phase. OHIP won't cover eye exams, more cuts to come, cancer screening, etc.
Didn't Dalton delist eye care?

Health care cuts and education cuts.
But we'll get a new highway to nowhere to go with the $2 billion Scarborough subway stop.
Education should go slowly on line step by step. Someday perhaps 80% online. All teachers guaranteed to keep their jobs with retirements and school building closures leading to massive savings over the long term. No woke teaching is a wonderful side benefit.

Parallel private health care system slowly implemented. Hey, Lets just start with private MRI's like Quebec. I already do it. End result: You go faster because I am out of the way and I go faster because I pay. And not only that, I pay taxes with my quick next day MRI appointment. I did a couple that turned out to be unnecessary worry but the peace of mind is well worth it.

No I did not if you actually read my posts. I called him winning a very long time ago. I have said out of the 3 he would win and I thought he did a good job during Covid working hand in hand with the Federal government. I also know Del Duca on a personal level and I am not fond of the man. Ford has moved to the center even dipping his toe to the left. I look at John Tory in the same way. John has had my vote since he first ran for mayor and he has always been a Conservative although in the center with again, a toe on the left.

If you were listening to 1010 this morning, it came out when Covid first hit he went to Wynn for advice and was told to get in front of it and show you actually care and he did.

PS......Peter PEE PEE is the devil and I hope he wins the leadership so Justin and the Liberals will wipe the floor with the Federal conservatives!!!!

This was a drubbing. The Liberals were done in by years of Dalton and Wynne. They are thought of in the same way as Bob Rae. It might take 2 decades or more for them to be relevant again.

Early prediction Mitzie Hunter ends up as either interm or actual leader. Four wins in her riding gives her dnough cred to be a caretaker and rebuilder.

I don't believe she wants it unless if forced upon her I doubt it.

She ran for it before. Against Wynne. Methinks she takes another kick. No baggage. Solidified riding. And she will get a few kicks at the can. She was smart to avoid it last two times.

Now that Horvath is toast it can be a two party contest. Looking ahead the economy is going to get worse. It may give them a shot.

But if Doug creates growth, stays in the middle and builds a lot he could recreate the Big Blue Machine years.

Liberals are starting to see the error of their ways and rejecting their progressive brethren and jumping ship, lol.

Will they even get enough seats to have an official party status?
Since when are the Ontario libs "progressives"?

I didn't bother voting for the first time in decades. Ford was picked as the winner and that's more or less okay with me. He's middle of the road, reliable and moderate. All that I'm looking for in this jurisdiction.

This is an ongoing pattern. Ontario votes for a middle of the road party that - like Squeezer said - occasionally veers slightly left of centre and doesn't rock the boat. They vote for that party happily for 10 or 15 years, then some controversy happens and they switch to an alternative for 10 or 15 years. Ontario is a non ideological province. It basically wants "business as usual" and it doesn't like political change.

Aside from the Bob Rae term, this is the history of Ontario politics since 1867.

So this was all predictable and non controversial. You righties are making it sound like some GOP far right candidate just re-took New York state for the wacko "Jesus, guns and babies" party of nutbars. It's nothing of the sort. It's just Ontario doing Ontario in the same way Ontario has done for 150 years.
